Last weekend, I got a bale of straw, pumpkins, and gourds to put outside to decorate for fall, my favorite time of year.  The day after I put the gourds out, I found a suspicious gourd bottom with no top.  I could not locate a suspect, so I just threw it away.  Today, I found the culprit.  I was reading in the yard, when I glanced up and saw Sammy surrounded by gourds.  He had taken them off the straw and was eating the tops.  He wasn't just chewing them off, he was actually consuming them.  Leave it to Sammy to consume his mum's prized fall decorations!

Well, it beats the varieties of poops my girls find on their walks (cat, dog, frog, worm, etc).  And not to mention the snackies in their own backyard if Mark (my pooper scooper) isn't out there, Mark on the spot.   :idiot:

A hidden camera clip showing him "stealing" the gourds would have been priceless. He probably thought he had hit the jackpot, especially when he seemed to be the only one with a taste for them.

Murph absolutely adores the pumpkin pieces carved out of a jack-o-lantern.  He acts like you gave him a tasty bone and chews on them in a corner so nobody can steal them.

Does the pumpkin make Murph's stomach sick?  Sammy seems to have a stomach of iron.  Those gourds have not caused him a bit of discomfort.  Must be why he keeps stealing them and munching away!

Nope-in fact pumpkin is good for doggie digestion, at least in moderation, so it's a snack I don't mind giving him.  I limit it mostly because the pumpkins are sugary, so I think they're not exactly the lowest calorie treat.  Plus, he does get tired of them after a few days of it.
