Dee Dee and Hallie

I'm taking Hallie back up for another little bump removal on Tuesday. This one is on her lower back and it's dark black which is more concerning. We're going 2 hours to her dermatologist, I imagine he'll put her under and laser it off like before with her bum spot. Then the worry until you hear results ugh. I am thinking it's more likely to be ok than not but always scary so any spare rays would be appreciated especially for the results but also for her that it won't be too scary or painful for her.

Thank you for the prayers they worked. It went really well today. He decided to try and do it without putting her out so I asked if I could go back, he said will you pass out, and although past experience would dictate otherwise, I assured him that would not happen and that I was a vet tech *small fib for the greater good*  :xfinger: So I got to "suit up and assist" and I was careful to keep my eyes on her face heh.

I was sooooo proud of her. Really fancy op. room. She was standing on the table with a light shining on her back where the thing was. I was sitting on a stool at her head. He said you have to sit down little girl...she would have sit if I had asked her to but she had her little knees locked for him and I could tell she would be more comfortable standing so he let her stand. He came at her with a super long needle to deaden her skin (this was right on the upper part of her lower back...ouch) and he said she will probably squeal when he injected her but I just kept massaging the base of her ears and talking to her and my brave little soldier stood there like a cement statue through the whole thing, she didn't move a foot! The only time she moved at all was when he turned on the laser it makes a loud vacuum cleaner like sound and she just raised her nose up and looked over her shoulder for a second but didn't budge until we were done. I told one of the assistants in there I think I was even more relieved for myself than for Hallie when she didn't scream...

They were very impressed with how good she was, lasers rock there were no stitches, no hair had to be shaved and he said no pain afterwards. It just looks like a small sore that will scab over he said. Very cool.

He also said that this "mole" was probably a melanoma but on dogs it's not nearly as worrisome as if you found it on human skin (unless it shows up on their digits, anus, mouth, eyes...then it's scarier like the black one she had on her bum a few months ago hers turned out to be a sebacious gland tumor though). So he feels it's probably ok but soem can be bad and good ones can go bad so it's good we took it off. We'll have results in about 2 weeks.

We stopped at "Grandmas" on the way home so now she's in a deep sleep in her bed under my desk here. I'm relieved this is over now just wait for good test results

Im so glad to hear Hallie is doing great! Im not surprised that she was perfect! Now if only my vet would let me cry quietly in the room while they neuter Finnegan.

Poor Katie and poor Finn! Neuter/spay is always dreaded but so good to have done. Thankfully that's one they only need once in their lifetimes! Do you have a date set yet? The vast majority come thru with flying colors it's amazing how well these little guys can bounce back especially compared to us humans.

Yeah its this monday, the thirty first. I feel sick everytime i think about it and dropping him off.. Then cant MAKE me leave the parking lot.. can they?

Dee Dee and Hallie

She is doing great today like nothing happened. I am so glad we were able to do this without putting her out it was so much easier on her. I only wish they could give results immediately so we don't have to wait and worry.

Katie I have never left my dogs at the vet (and my last two, especially my Dane were very ill most of their lives so we were at different vets a lot!). I even stayed at a vets clinic for 2 weeks, 2 different times, on the cement floor with my Dane on a bed of mattress and blankets I had brought (with his IV, after major surgery both times) and my longhaired Dachshund Jessie there with us for moral support. I stayed with him 24/7 (I had to try a lot of vets before finding ones that let me do things like that I also was allowed to be there during the surgeries). There were only a handful of times I couldn't go back with them, Hallie included, for one thing or another but if I couldn't stay with them I never left the lobby, the few times they had to stay overnight without me I stayed in my van in the parking lot and was sure they knew it, they tend to move things along faster when they know an obsessive mother is hovering outside their door! Plus if anything went wrong they could come right out and get me. I NEVER let them stay overnight if no one was in the building to keep an eye on them.

One time I took my cat in for a dental and they said to drop him off at 8 and pick him up at 4. I told them I was going to wait there for him...they took him back at 8 and we were on our way home by 10! It pays to be a polite bother. I always sit in the lobby too so I can hear them if they were to cry out or something...I just don't trust anyone, even vets and kennel help, with my kids. If you can, my advice would be to stay there with him, I know I'd go insane if I couldn't at least be in the building.

He will be FINE though they do so well with this surgery it's amazing! We'll be sending rays on Monday!

I just know he is going to freak out when i try to leave him, i have only ever tried to leave him with my mom once.. and he lost it.. and it was only to walk to the corner store! Luckily he doesnt have to spend the night, i dont think i could handle that..
My vet isnt realllly the nicest towards people, but she is so good and patient with Finnegan.. so i will see how it goes. I know for a fact i'm going to cry so maybe that will sway her a bit..
(he is licking my foot very seriously as i write this)

I think i might just bring a book and at least sit in the parking lot. Its not like im going to get anything done anyways.
- Katie & Finnegan

Dee Dee and Hallie

I'd sit in the waiting room and read if they let you. Then you'll be more likely to get the minute by minute of his recovery, etc. I'm sure he'll do just fine though and you'll be glad to have it done.

Roberta

Great news about Ms H, and glad you made it through to, the girls are a bit more robust than the boys.
Fin will be OK, if you have not got a strong stomach ask them to do the pre anesthetic  in your arms, thats what they did with Amy (they did not allow people in, and I trusted them) and they took her after she was out to it, I came back in time for her wake up, and held her coming round. Get them to give you some valium for him if he is anything like Angus or Oliver they were hyper after it and keeping them calm was hard.

He is dramatic when he is hurt. He lays there and shows me his owie.. That probably wont be so pretty providing where the Owie will be.

So im not worried about him being hyper.. He will just want me to lay with him and hold him. Which is why i took time off to do so  :comfort:

Dee Dee and Hallie

Luckily Hallie is very stoic, I have to watch her close to be sure she isn't in more pain than she puts on. Actually Mom is doing pretty darn good these days, not 100% but maybe 90% compared to 10-20% this last year! These pills seem to be working I can eat again not totally without consequence but very bearable it's been great! Now we just need to get through the next week or so of waiting and worrying (I of course am a wreck...) for Hallie's results, hopefully good news and then maybe we can finally relax a bit with no scary tests to wait for and the two of us can just live life!  :thumb:

Illinois rays coming special delivery to Ms.Hallie Murry!

Dee Dee and Hallie

I agree Katie I still can't believe I can eat...we went to a barbeque yesterday and I felt like a normal hooman bean! (well as normal as I have ever felt LOL).

Thanks for the rays Kelly...we just heard from the clinic and the tumor is BENIGN. I can breath again. Yeay!!!! A day to celebrate, more than usual that is.  We were practicing her latest trick when they called and that always involves several happy dances with each little success so we were hooping and hollering around the living room when they called. I'm so glad they didn't ruin our day!
