He had his big boy snip yesterday, and is on pain pills for a week.  I took him in at 7:30, and went on to work - getting my classroom ready.  Then I called at about 4 and was told he "was resting comfortably".  Dr. Takata did his surgery, and it was a bit less than the estimate.  :headbang:  I also took the e-collar in from Robinton's anal sac blowout, and they put a sticker on it and now Bastian has it for the two weeks.  (Don't you love recycling?  That saved another $12.)  He has dissolvable sutures that no dog in my canine children has had before.  The first pill went down so smoothly with a bit of bread and peanut butter to hold the pill.  I wasn't able to pick him up until 6:30, but now that the vet's office has consolidated two offices and they are open 24/7, it is no issue to pick up your pet late like that.  Emergency fees for treatment begin at 6 pm.  Anything from 8 am to 6 pm is normal billing.

YAY!!!! Doesn't it feel so good to get that over with? Good to hear it went well. Elli got spayed about a month ago. She doesn't even remember it happened.

Romeo got his done about 6 months ago and he was up running around like 2 days later, had to keep my eye on him to keep him calm.  I am glad to hear it went good.  Finnegan will do just fine.  He is a big boy like Romeo and will be fine.  Good luck Finn and be strong.

Phew that is always a dreaded one, now behind you! So glad he did well, it's really nice you can pick them up anytime there. I didn't realize they put them on pain pills for a neuter I don't recall having pills for Hallie when she was spayed, are pills the norm?

Well, I do not remember pain pills for spays, but they are hysterectomies.  I never had Friedrich neutered - now I know better!  They prescribed pain pills last year for Robinton, so when they asked me if Bastian needed them, I told them (in the words of my mom!), "I'd rather have them and him not need them, than not have them and for him to be in pain."  He took his pill this morning on a Wheat Thins cracker with peanut butter - slicked it right down!

The lady at the Vet asked me if i wanted to pay extra for a pain shot that they give them right after the surgery and apparently it leaves them pain free for 24 hours. I was like "Why wouldn't someone do that for thier pupper" and she said because of Cost.. so i asked how much and she said " About $15."

Uh yeah... i ll do it.. haha

I'm glad everything went well!  Porky had his surgery at 6 months old and did great.  He had the disolvable stitches and they worked great!

So glad all went well, Julia.  When Hilde had her spay they sent me home with pain meds, too.  I asked if this was normal, and she said they do it now because the dog does feel the pain afterwards.  I could tell it helped Hide.  Hope he recovers real fast.

Handle every "Situation" like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
tinkle on it and walk away.

What, may I ask, was so BROKEN amongst all these poor defenseless wieners that they all had to be FIXED???!???

:evil5: I think you should sign up for spaying and neutering YOURSELVES, in the spirit of true hooman empathy!
