Spanish Teckels

She reminds me so much of Red as a pup and that wire character is certainy all there - so tiny and growling and asking for what she wants so well already!  It´s lovely to see her, thanks so much for sharing Delia, she´s adorable.
Spanish Teckels, blessed to be owned by Red and Islay.

Danni heard the start of the video and sat on my lap until it was over.  She says to tell Eli that she likes her squeaky toy.

Winston sat on the floor tilting his head from side to side and Millie got up in my lap to studiously watch the video.  What attitude!

Roberta and Kathleen ... it's soooo cute when they think it's another dog and look for them! Elli does that. None of my other pups did that.

Spanish Teckels ... yes, the wire attitude is something! Ilsa was my first wire and she absolutely sold me on wires. Now that Elli is housebroken (YAY!) and sleeping through most of the night and waiting until we get up to ask for breakfast, I'm able to enjoy her without feeling like a zombie. Between work and her 2 wake up calls per night and asking for breakfast at 5 or 6, I was dead on my feet. After talking to DD, I started (2 nights ago) to take her out once during the night (I know, DD, she should be sleeping through the night and I should ignore her. I'm working on it!) and then she waits for breakfast when we get up - 7 or 8. More sleep = happy mom! At one point, Ron and I were sooooo tired ... Ron looks me in the eye and says, "Old people should not have puppies!" He's right ... and these old people will not be having anymore puppies!

Brekkesmom

At first, nodog was paying any attention.  Suddenly the three red wiens came to life and were looking all around.  Then I picked up Bastian and when he saw Elli, I think he said he wanted the toy - and he's already destuffed one Bobo tonight!  She is so cute, Delia, and I thought maybe Brekke would start looking, too.  I guess she doesn't remember your voice. :dontknow:
owned and operated by Mirrim, Lessa, and Torene, also forever by angels Friedrich, Heidi, Gretl, Siglen, Sorcha, Brekke, Rowan, Robinton, and Bastian.

I love the video. She is SOOOO cute! You can tell exactly what she is saying LOL. What a doll. Only once a night that is good! She'll get there all the way! And housebroken! Double YEAY!!!  :hello2: LOL Ron is so funny. And so are you!

"these old people will not be having anymore puppies"

Yeah. Uh huh. You two "old people" also were not going to get another dog...EVER. That lasted a month!  Never say never LOL.

What a great video, and what a beautiful little girl Elli is!! I played the video twice and will likely play it many more times! Elli brings both tears to my eyes and joy to my heart for how she reminds me of my Zana-angel, who broke my heart when she had to leave for the Bridge in 2007. (It never really stops hurting, does it....) My calico cat was nearby and was transfixed when she heard Elli start barking. She went from standing on the footrest of the recliner to standing on the computer keyboard tray and looking for Elli in the flesh. Zana was her best bud and I think Elli reminded her of Zana. Maya (the cat) doesn't usually pay that much attention to dogs barking in videos but she was very intent on Elli, without any type of alarm in her body --- almost as if she were wondering "where have you been?"

Munchfam, I'm glad we brought a smile to your face and some good moments to Maya's day. I'm so sorry for your loss of Zana. How old was she? What happened that you lost her? I just lost Ilsa in March, at age 9, to lymphoma. I told myself - and really meant it - that Gretchen (our 10 year old B/T Longhair) would be an only child and then we were done with that kind of heartache. But ... I tried doing what I used to do with Ilsa (taking her everywhere possible), with Gretchen, and it was pure stress. Gretchen is NOT the social little girl Ilsa was. I missed Ilsa something awful. I had never cried for so long, day after day. I then wondered why I was doing that to myself and started looking for another little wire girl. Elli came to live with us the end of May at 9 months of age. She will never replace Ilsa but she fills a large hole that Ilsa left. As my vet said the first time he examined Elli ... "She has some big shoes to fill." I don't know that she ever will but she has her own ways of making me glad I'm her mom. I can say that now that she's housebroken and sleeping through most of the night!!!!!!

DeeDee, I hate it when you're right because most of the time you are!!!!! I won't say I'll never have another dog - just no more puppies. I think I'm pretty sure. Does that sound definite enough?

Dee Dee and Hallie

LOL yes that sounds good to me too.

I am at the point of saying "No More Dogs" too I lasted 4 years last time before Hallie came along...you have taught be to be careful what you say.

And just for the record...I am almost never right LOL so this time must have been a fluke!  :thumb:

Hi Delia,
My Zana was three weeks shy of 15 years when she had to leave me for the Bridge almost two years ago, but the time we have with them is never long enough. We don't know exactly what took her, but I wonder if it were some type of lymphoma as well. She had had a smallish soft swelling on her neck near her shoulder blade, which I immediately had the vet check, but the vet felt that it was a lipoma (fatty tumor) and didn't think that we should worry about it, possibly because she was pretty well advanced in age at that point. I was worried because a few months before her death she suddenly developed IBD, which we seemed to be having success treating, but as you likely know IBD is a very difficult disorder to treat. The vet had thought a couple of years earlier that she had Cushings but the tests were inconclusive. Certainly the swelling on her neck didn't bother her at all and she was always a joy in every way. I had adopted her at 8 months old from a friend who couldn't keep her and she immediately attached herself to my "middle" dachsie girl. My middle dachsie girl did have Cushings but did well with treatment. My last three dachsie girls (I'd had dachsies previously) are now at the Bridge and I was blessed to share long lives with them --- they lived to be 13, 14, and 17 --- but I still miss each one so very much and I am hoping and praying for the day that I can be a dachsie parent again, hopefully to a rescue or two. Each and every dachsie I've been owned by was so special in his (my first was a male) or her own way, and they are completely unforgettable. As I think we would all agree, to have been owned by a dachsie is to have been changed forever in one of the best of ways.
