Last Tuesday was National Night Out, a pro-active program put on by the various first responder agencies.  I was working the one in Germantown, Maryland as a volunteer with the Maryland National Capital Park Police.   Besides working the booth, I was also the photographer for the event (don't worry, there is a dachshund tie-in...stay tuned).

Here was our booth promoting child safety seats:

The horses are always a popular attraction.  Notice how the horse on the left has a sense of humor while posing for the camera!

Horses again.  The rider in yellow is one of the volunteers like myself:

We were also doing "Fatal Vision".  This is where you have someone put on goggles that simulate inebriation and have them try to ride a tricycle.   This was fun.   What was scary was the number of young kids who put on the goggles with no apparent effect!

Okay..so here is the dachshund tie-in.   While taking photos, these three little guys came over.   Of course, I had to stop what I was doing and say hello

These were small guys, probably 7 - 8 pounds each.   The clear red was the son of the b/t.   The wire is the oldest one of the bunch at 11.
One more shot of the trio:

Dee Dee and Hallie

How cute are those three! And the horses are gorgeous too. Love the tongue LOL! Looks like a fun day!

Great Pictures, David.  We had all sorts of events here.....next year, we'll have our own National Night Out in the neighborhood.  I am in the process of organizing a Neighborhood Watch for the 22 homes in our neighborhood.  Tomorrow night, I have one of our Deputy Sheriff's coming to present and talk to all the neighbors about the program.  I am now a volunteer for the Sheriff's Department and will be the "Captain/Organizer" for our Neighborhood Watch.

Looks like that was lots of fun!  We missed out night out because Porky was so sick.   We'll have to try again next year.

That's great that you're getting involved, Dee.   I've been a volunteer for two years now.  It's been one of the most interesting and rewarding experiences in my life.
