What a wacky afternoon!!   When I heard the first report of a tornado warning, I almost didn't believe it.  It was cloudy outside, but it was cold.   Also, we weren't even under a tornado watch.    The first tornado hit out by unka Mike's farm in Stegall, NE  (small small town)   around noon.  It hung around there for quite a while and followed along the highway right next to the farm.     They are all safe and had no damage to their property.   Phew!!

Then, I started hearing that another tornado was spotted north of Scottsbluff, west of scottsbluff, and south of Gering, NE.   All at the same time.  Well, my sister works in a Early Head Start in Gering, so I was worried about her and her "babies".  Also my the storm to the north was bearing down on Walmart where my friend works.  She kept me updated through the whole thing and even got a picture.  (I'll post it tomorrow!!)    At one point they had storms producing tornadoes, from Albin, WY all the way to Bridgeport, NE.  Scary!!!

Next up to tackle the storm were Justin's parents at the lake.  A tornado decided to go there.   They are safe with no damage as well.    Then the tornado turned south, and followed the highway to my parent's town.     Luckilly, te tornado stayed north of their town, so the worst they got was LOTS of rain, and some hail.

We were in the crosshairs for a tornado, but at the last second it turned south and missed us by 28 miles.       My sister had a hard afternoon since the tornadoes hit at naptime.  Try waking up 8, 2 ad 3 year olds in the middle of their nap.  NOT FUN!!  They moved all the classes into a shelter room and tried to keep the kids busy.   They were in the shelter from 1 until 4.  I'm sure you can imagine what would happen with kids stuck in a room for that long with only a few books and toys, and sleep deprived to boot.

I'm just happy everyone is safe, it seems like the storms are done for us, at least for now.    :xfinger:

Stay safe out there!

We've had lots of rain in Maryland...some areas have had 14 inches since May 1.   We've had a little bit more than half of that where we live .  We've already had more rain in the first 10 days in June than we get for the entire month.   You get the occasional twister, but they mostly hit in Southern Maryland, about 60 miles to the southeast.   Closest we've had is a funnel cloud but no touchdown about two miles to the north of us.
