Dis is Porky Pie.   I'm feewing wots bedda soz I gotz a stowy to tell.   Yestaday I was midning my own biznezz and den I heard a scweam outside.    It weally scareded me!!!   So I ran to da door.    Mama picked me up and we went out to check fings out.  Da neighbor lady was standing at da bottom of our stairs wif two year old Skyler and right under her foot was a rattlesnake!!!  She steppeded right on it.        Mama is freaked out by dose poisonous snakes, but she was able to push me back in da house and use a snow shobel to rescue da neighbor.    Unfortunately for da snake, mama had to kill it.  Mama doesn't like killing fings, so she feels guilty, but dey knew as soon as da neighbor lady picked up her foot, da snake would probably strike.

Soz da moral of dis stowy is, iffen youz going to go outside dis time of year; Watch yer step!!!!    Da worstest part is after dat, Skyler didn't eben get to come play wif me.    :dontknow:  We're good buddies ya know.     Mostly cause he likes to gib me some of his leftober supper sometimes.   SHHHHH...... Don't tell my mama, she'll hab a fit!!!

Good....night!
How in the world did she get close enough to step on it? I'd been on top of the roof! I didn't know you had rattle snakes there, we just get the little gardner snakes but they don't hurt you. You were brave to take a shovel to that thing!

Holy COW!  I would have screamed louder than the lady with the snake by her foot.  Sandi does NOT do snakes.....even "harmless Garder" ones.  Ewwww!  Amorette, you are BRAVE!   :hello2:

Very well said. What an experience, you mom was so brave. Tell her don't blame herself for doing that, or else someone was hurt.

Heavens above Porky, that´s absolutely terrifying.  Amorette, you are the bravest person I can ever imagine, I would have died of a heart attack on the spot.  Congratulations on your presence of mind and bravery, boy is your neighbour a lucky lady having you around.   It´s awful that thing was around your homes anyway, no way should you feel guilty about killing it.

I have a very, very severe snake phobia and absolutely hate the Spring/Summer here.  We usually walk 10km along the cliffs overlooking the sea, next to pine woods, up to our local lighthouse every day.  Every single time we´ve tried to go recently I have seen snakes; I´m so frightened now I can´t face the walk.  We´re trying to go before 7am, before the paths get warmed up, in the hope we won´t see any more.  Yuck...

Dee Dee,
Stepping on it was a complete accident as she didn't see the snake until after she stepped on it and heard it hiss.

Bravery?!  HA!   I never would have been able to kill the thing if she hadn't been standing right behind his head.  I was calm on the outside, but freaking out on the inside.  I think I shook for an hour afterwards!    Plus, for some reason, when I'm around little ones a protection instinct kicks in and I can face a lot.   For example, I'm terrified of spiders and was babysitting one day.  The little girl was hysterical about the spider and I showed her she could pet it and it wouldn't hurt her.    As soon as she left the room, I was grossed out.    :2funny:

Luckilly, we haven't seen any other snakes.   I can handle gardner snakes, but the others bother me.

AHEM. . .

I believe the correct common name is garter snake.  Note the following:

COLUBRIDAE (colubrid snakes) The Colubrid snakes are sometimes refered to as "typical snakes". They comprise the largest family by far with over 2000 species worldwide. Most are medium sized snakes, and all lack a pelvic girdle and have no vestigial hind limbs and whose left lung is either absent or greatly reduced.

THAT'S QUITE ENOUGH, DR. STEVE IRWIN (rest in peace) LEAKY.  THIS IS WAY MORE INFO THAN ANY OF US WANT OR NEED!!

LOL well Dr. BL...terms you grew up with always trump the info you find on the internet.  :thumb:
We've missed your Mom good to have y'all back!

OMG...I think the last thing you think will happen when you wake up in the morning is that you will accidentally step on a rattlesnake and not be able to step off! Thank goodness no one got bit...that's wild! Too funny about the spider!
