I know one of my puppers did this....can't remember which one.   Maybe you spilled or dropped something on the couch?

My JRT licked the couch, the carpet, all fabrics. We were constantly telling him "no licking", he would stop, and then 10 minutes later the licking started up again. It was an ongoing battle. I think he liked the way the fabric felt on his tongue, or he might have been bored, or he liked something in the fabric. He had severe allergies, and was a vegetarian during his last 6 years.
Paw licking is usually an indication of allergies.

Bonnie raises ALL paws!  She is a persistent couch licker!  I used to worry that she was harming my old worn out sofa but now I see that it does no damage at all.  She doesn't use her teeth, but oh, what that tongue can do.  You can HEAR her across the room!

Oliver will do it to our pillows if allowed.................................
