Cocoa got stoned last night!

Cocoa is 14 and has seizures.  She is on meds to keep her stabilized.  She knows she gets her snack at 8:00 PM and don't be late!  She will sit in the kitchen and bark until you come give her the "snack"!

Well, last evening we had to visit a friend that is in the hospital and Dad fed the dogs for us.  At 8:00 PM Cocoa went into her routine so Dad pilled her.  We got home at 9:00 and Cocoa took off for the kitchen and convinced her master that she had not had a snack.  So, Ken pilled her...again.  Double dose!

Within an hour Cocoa was totally stoned...wasted.  She was laying sprawled across Dad's lap with her ears "full flaps back" and eyes "slammed shut".   When we called her name, she would cock one eye 1/2 open and look at you like, "what"?

Poor girl, I just wish I had thought to take a photo.  She was soooo wasted!

She slept well last night :)  Luckily, a double dose is not sufficient to cause harm.

Yikes... poor girl. Good thing she was okay.  Doxies are little tricksters like that. Hansy goes in the kitchen and woowoowooooos when it's about dinner time.  If I'm not there when he gets fed and I get home, he'll woowoowoooooo at me from the kitchen, hoping that I don't know he's been fed and he'll get seconds.  When it comes to food, never trust a dachshund.

I want to say "Poor Cocoa" but it sounds like she was feeling nooo pain. :) I did that to my Great Dane Fred once, the vet had actually told me the wrong dose of diazapam to give him, I was in tears because he was staggering around and I didn't know why. When he picked up his big fuzzy ball and was trying to shove it into a draw with a goofy grin on his face, I figured it out. I'm glad Cocoa is ok but tell her no more tricking mom and dad like that!

That is just too funny!  (Of course that's only because everything turned out OK!)  I remember Sybill-angel would drink the wine for the Christmas toast every year and was a *mean* drunk.  I didn't really think about it being bad for her at the time.  She would lay on my lap and growl at anyone who came within three feet of me!  lol  I thought it was funny.  If I sat her down she'd wobble then come get back in my lap.  I don't let Cajsa have anything to drink, but I bet she'd take it if we left something down.  She tried for a beer someone had at one of our cookouts!

Cocoa is just fine.  She took a long walk with Dad yesterday and was quite tuckered out last evening.

Rudy once went on a rampage through my roomates room, eating all of his snacks and sweets.  Knowing he was going to have an upset stomach, Rudy jumped up on the kitchen table and found some Imodium caplets.   He ate several of them.   When I got home, Rudy was stoned off his tail.  He just looked at me with that faraway look on his face..."Whoa...Dude!".

I called Animal Poison Control.  They recommended that I wait to see if he moves his bowels within 36 hours.  If he did not, I would have to give hime Metamucil.   In the 35th hour, Rudy finally pooped.  I've never seen that much poop come from a dachshund before!

I'm surprised Merion hasn't mentioned sweet little Twinkie and the nut rolls!!   these were those huge ones you got at I think Kmart.  We went shopping there and then went another place. I didnt realize that she had left food loose(we often will put either dogs or food in kennels for safety reasons!! ) Twinkie had a sweet tooth....I mean she was a TWINKIE!!

Well we went to another store, and then Merion remembered she had bought the nut rolls. So she went out to the van, and caught her about 1/2 way through one.  Sadly it was the SECOND one!!  I think those things were at least 8 oz's each!!
I was recovering from the broken leg so was in a wheel chair.  We called vet and were told as long as it was NOT the chocolate nut roll(it wasnt) she would likely get sick, but that was all.  I think after about the 5th time and maybe around 2-3 in the morning I calld Merion. I think at that point I had run out of paper towels, or anything to clean up the mess.  I think we did try to give her pepto bismol at one point, and she of course sprayed it all over US, her and the room!

Merion was still too trusting cuz another time we went shopping for little plants for the garden.  We forgot about the beefmaster tomato she bought at the one place. she was gonna have BLT's for lunch.  I think the huge tomato was between 1-2  POUNDS and MS Twinkie, left only a few tomato seeds on the van floor!! Thankfully othe than a bunch of belching, and i think a few extra potty runs we survived that one easier.  BUT I would find it VERY hard to eat a TWO pound anything and I am NOT a small doxie!!
