Is there a book exchange of sorts going on here?  I can look through my stuff to see what I've got.  I will say it's science/fantasy, straight fantasy and paranormal stuff mostly.  Not sure if anyone else likes those kinds of books or not.

A book exchange is not a bad idea...  I will go through mine too..  Most are romance & drama type books..  But, they are good..  Marcia, what is Roses are Red about??  I am going to be looking for new books to take with me to read when Katelyn has her surgery..  I will get my list up soon..

I may have some of the other Alex Cross books to that follow up Roses are Red if they are needed. I'll have to look and see what we have. We have read the entire series so far.  Just finished Cross Country. It was the most intense, but still an awesome read.

Lol, April - I knew we were kindred spirits!  Have you read the Twilight series?  Just finished all four in the last two weeks!  I can't wait to see if there will be another book with Renesmee!

Children's books: anyone have nieces or nephews or children around the ages of 8 to 14?  Scholastic books has a series of 10 books called "The 39 Clues", about the Cahill family.  There are clue cards in each book and extra clue cards in sets, for purchase.  According to the fictional plot, almost every famous person in history was/is a Cahill - Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, most scientists and musicians in the past.  You read the books, get the clues, solve the mystery.  There are four family branches, and when you register on-line, you'll be asked several questions and assigned to a branch.  Adults may not win the prizes - up to $100,000 worth.  I think it is a great series so far, in the first three books.  I am reading it aloud to my second graders and explaining some of the vocabulary, and they are loving it!  It has inspired several to start reading biographies, and others to become more interested in history!  (Btw, I am in the Ekaterina branch, and the icon for our branch is a gold dragon.)
owned and operated by Mirrim, Lessa, and Torene, also forever by angels Friedrich, Heidi, Gretl, Siglen, Sorcha, Brekke, Rowan, Robinton, and Bastian.

I've read the first two, but haven't read the last two yet.  I'm waiting on them through the library.  It's going to be a while if I can't find someone to borrow them from!  I've read nearly everything by Anne McCaffrey and love how you've named all your furbabies!  I'm currently reading one of Jim Butcher's series, but I think I'll keep that one to re-read later!  I'd like to read the "Kitty" books but I can't remember the writer right now.  I'll have to check on that.  I like Kelly Armstrong's stuff that I've read anyway.  I"ve not read everything by her yet but she seems to be pretty entertaining!

I too have read the Twilight series!!  Loved them!!  Took me 2 weeks to read all 4, and there better be another book to follow Breaking Dawn..  lol  I borrowed them from a friend of mine, but we later decided that we needed them...   I also bought Stephanie's latest book "The Host", very good read, but of course it was left wide open for a 2nd book..  I can hardly wait!!  She is an amazing author...  We of course are going to buy the movie "Twilight" when it comes out this Saturday, my kids can hardly wait..  lol  If anybody knows of any good reads that I can read while we are in Salt Lake for Katelyn's surgery, let me know..  I have been looking but, haven't gotten serious about it yet. lol  I am too entranced by Stephanie Meyer books to look at much else..  lol  I still have to look through all my books and will post a list soon..  Hugs to all...

Randy loves the Jim Butcher series. He keeps telling me how many days it is until the newest one is released ( 22 ) . I haven't read any of them, but may have to soon. Have you read any of David Weber's stuff? He lives in our area now and I've heard him speak once or twice. Really great person.

Well, fudge!  I forgot to ask about Jim Butcher!  I loved the Dresden Files when it was on tv - did you gals catch that?  It got me started on the books...

OMG.... so all this this time we could've had a group talk on the Twilight Series.... thought I was the only one......
I've read the series (Breaking Dawn in 2 days!) and The Host, which I liked as it was more Sci-Fi.  If you go to Stephenie Myers website, you can read what she had written for her book "Midnight Sun" which is "Twilight" from Edwards perspective.  She isn't going to publish this book as of now because her manuscript was illegally leaked on the internet, so that's why she put it on her website, so everyone can read it.  It's really good and I wish she would finish and publish the whole book.  We are going to a Twilight themed party this weekend because of the movie's release (although I did NOT like the movie) and I am bringing " Jacob's werewolf kibble" as a snack
I haven't had a chance to go through my book collection yet.... but definitely will post what I have available in the next few months ( mostly sci-fi, horror, mystery, autobiographical, and historical) as we are planning to move this year and I need to downsize my junk.
