I finished the quilt that I was working on......looks like it received the Doxie Seal of Approval from Sarge and Duggie......Here are some pictures:

And, just for fun, here are a couple of visitors that made a stop to have a snack in my niece's backyard.....she lives about 4 miles from us.  Her backyard is fenced (a four foot cyclone fence). The snow was deep enough and the moose were big enough that Daddy Moose just walked over the fence.....Momma Moose had to do a little hop.  The moose ventured to within 10 feet of their patio doors....

Have a great day!

Here are a couple more of the "Tall Legged Doxies".....aka Momma and Daddy Moose.....

As an added note, this is a established neighborhood with houses all around.  This winter, wildlife have been coming off the mountains and into the housing developments looking for food.  The Division of Wildlife and Fish have had to relocate about 6 moose.  One moose made its way into the basement of a house.  Talk about surprised homeowners when they heard a noise in their basement.  THe moose went through a window....it was a a Baby moose.....and was not hurt in the ordeal.....It was reunited with its Momma ...... all were captured by DWF and relocated high on the mountain.

I've got the fabric and the pattern that I want to use.  This second one is going to be made using fat blocks which will be cut to different size squares/strips.   I'm hoping to start cutting them this weekend.

Hi Annie,

A fat block is a piece of material that is 18 inches x 20 inches; within each "fat block", I will cut two strips and two squares (different sizes).  I have twenty "fat blocks" to cut into the pieces, plus fabric for the border and backing.  I'm excited to do this quilt also.  There will be a variety of colors....cream, beige, purple, black, blue, green, brown and a salmon/red for the blocks and the border will be a dark blue and the backing will be a medium blue.  The prints on the fabric are all different.

Fat Block or fat 1/4  is a quilters term as fabric is generally 52 inches wide so when the yard length is 1/4'd you get 1/$ but as the fabric is 52 wide they are fat quarters........does that make sense.

Hi Dee, thanks for the explanation, but I still don't understand.  :dontknow:  I guess you need to be a quilter.  I can hardly wait to see this new project.  I love the colors you are using and, maybe when I see the quilt, I'll understand the term "fat block".

Happy Quilting!  :thumb:

THere has been lots of those big critters coming into the housing areas and out of da woods!  And, yea, he is wearin' a coat rack on his head.  Mom says that we hafta stay away from the big guys.....and while Duggie would bark his fool head off, he can't go near them.  So, we watch from the window and can't go outside when dey is snackin'.  GUess they pull rank on us and the hoomans, too.   THere was an article in this morning's paper about how these big critters are startin' to lose their coat racks......one had a string of Christmas lights wrapped around the rack.....now, that's a silly place to be wearin' lights!    Sarge & Duggie

The quilt is gorgeous, and isn't it neat to see moose in the yard?  We get them all the time and I never get tired of seeing them.

Dee, I'm so envious of your quilting talent.  Your latest accomplishment is BEAUTIFUL!  Moose in your backyard?  I can't even imagine.  Duggie and Sargey, just bark from the INSIDE.  Better keep your distance, boys.

TerriL

Love the quilt Dee!  You do such great work!  The moose pictures are awesome!  I can't believe they get that close.  I suppose they are not afraid of much being the size they are!  Thanks for sharing!
