So Santa left a shiny new camera under the tree for me and I have been going click crazy with Frida and Willy.  So as I have been watching Frida unwind from her hectic schedule I see that she is as much of a natural bundler as she is a natural burrower.  Most important is that her head is poking out for surveillance purposes.  So do your puppers have a preference to burrowing or bundling?

mrsmartinez

Willy does not bundle or burrow.  He just surverys.

Ms. Lucy is a little of both but Mr. Wilson is a champion burrower, He can get in and under a blanket regardless of how it's laying on the couch.

Zoe and Winston do a little of both.....

Parker likes to be covered, and then have the blankets tucked around him. We call him our little burito boy.

Bonita and Oscar love to burrow.  They want to be completely covered.  Trooper seems to do both.  If he's not covered, I do it for him.  I don't like their backs to get cold.  Silly Momma.

Amy is a burrower, but with bundle if the object will not do as SHE wants, Oliver is a lie on top of it sort of guy.

Sarge & Duggie will burrow or bundle.  Sarge is my true blue burrower, however!  He loves to burrow.  Duggie will burrow if he's cold, and when he burrows, that means laying across Sarge and under the blanket.  He goes for the full gusto of warmth!  If he gets too hot, then he'll bundle.  Sarge just sighs and gives the look as Duggie is making himself comfortable against or on Sarge.

Murphy's my only true burrower, meaning he'll find his own way under the blankets.  The others will go under, but only if mom is there to lift the blankets for them to go under and then cover them (in the big bed at night, I spend the first 15 minutes or so lifting covers until everyone is under and happy).  Murphy is also the one that will "borrow" everyone else's body heat, so he'll pile on top of whoever is handy if he's chilly.  Except Reilly-she's a grouch when she sleeps so they all pretty much leave her alone.

See-Murphy's the only one under the blanket.

Porky lives to burrow under the blankies.  He usually likes me to wrap him like a baby and hold him.  :2funny:  He has liked that since we first brought him home.

Willy and Alex are professional burrowers!

Congrats on your new camera and that is great for us we get to see more pictures of the kids! Great shots. Some ultra pampered babies you got there!
Hallie is half and half, she will burrow when cold, but that's rare (except always half way thru the night in she comes I love to wake up with her snuggled tight next to me and her little head next to mine breathing so deep and slow). She bundles when sleepy at her bedtime around 7 pm (in her beds while I"m working) and during the day she is usually just laid out on top of her blankies.

Interesing Kathleen wonder if it's a smooth hair thing, just a bit colder than the longs?
Hallie sez: Eat, drink and be hairy

Yes, Dee Dee Emma was a BIG burrower, she even if you were washing blankies go under the mattress. I think smoothies lose more than some long hairs

Bundlers and burrowers...all 3!

Our crew will burrow with the first person to go to bed; regardless of who it is with no loyalty when it comes to a warm human!  They do have their preferences and pecking order.

Dottie goes under the covers first and will go all the way down to my feet in the center of the bed.  Patches follows her; but, stops around my hips.  At this point, both dogs will try to scratch up a "bundle" out of the bedsheets.  Failing that, they will plaster themselves to me and go to sleep.  Judy will go deep on the outside edge of the bed (at first I was worried that she would end up on the floor) and snuggle in.  My DH is a primary heat source and on many a cold night I find that I have been abandoned by all doggies!

On the family room sofa it is not unusual to see a pile of blankets with no indication there are dogs inside or at the most, a nose will stick out.  Judy will crawl down inside a pillowcase and curl up on the pillow.

My son's family just left for Tucson this evening after spending the past week with us.   My 3 grand-daughters are 2, 4, and 6.  As they departed, the house became instantly quiet for the first time since Christmas day.  The pooches are passed out on the sofa and I think it will be a couple of days before they recover!

Happy holidays to All!

Merion's sweetie Zeke was really a strange one!!  He really wanted his HEAD to be covered but did not care if everything else was hanging out. In fact one of his favorite positions was on his back with everything (including the family jewels)just sorta hanging out as long as his head was under the covers!!

My Twinkie  angel often was just the opposite and wanted her head or at least the nose right at the edge so she could peek out fast if needed.  Although I will say a few times when we made the very cold drive to central WI from Western WI, when the old van heater was barely working, she was known to burrow inside the pitiful stash of fleece blankies I let her use(often 3-6 of them!!).  One time she was sleeping so sound(and a little deaf) and when I looked it did not look like any dog was in that kennel!! She would travel in the kennel for safety reasons.

Patches is odd she sleeps in the water bed with me water beds are warm, then I have a sheet, quilt,& down comforter on top she gets under it all and sleeps. I keep the ceiling fan on all year round have the heating vent almost closed plus I have a big fan on a stand that runs at night (left over from when I worked night shift my white noise now can't sleep with out it.) I can see why Patches might be cool and get under the covers still do not know how she breathes under there? If Buddy & Patches get me up early to go potty I usually wait for them then we all go back to bed then Patches sleeps on top on top of my legs as if she was guarding me??? Buddy has his own bed on the floor too big for the water bed its only a super single no room for a Doberman, The bed is sitting up on 2 sets of drawers makes the bed about 28" up off the floor so Patches will not jump off. Still do not see how a dog can breathe under all those covers.
