He and I then spent the rest of the night in the living room, so that I could get up and deal with him if he had other issues.  But we slept through and got up at our usual time.  He had had a bit more diarrhea so I went back down the hall to the bedroom to get dressed and get cleaning supplies when I heard tags jingling and turned around a here he came down the hall! He wanted to go out. We lifted him onto the porch and he went out the dog door and by the time I had my coat on he was standing on our concrete pad surveying the back yard, then with me following to help him around obstacles he proceeded to go for a little walk and enjoyed marking the areas he'd missed for the last week.  He stumbled and his rear end went down several times, but he had enough strength  to stand back up and continue on. When he finally started back toward the house, I picked him up and carried him in.

Now Deb and I are guardedly optimistic. This is one tough old boy. Today I set the x-pen up in the kitchen and left him there until we can get back to check on him.  This is his equivalent of crate rest - we don't want him to overdue. He should sleep well today, this is the most exercise he has had in a week.

Thanks so much to everyone who has had our battleship in their thoughts and prayers. For now he's on the mend or so it would appear. Keep those rays coming.

more prayers going out to ya... the stress--physical and emotional--will take a toll, but remember Stormy only knows how he feels right now.  He doesn't project any worries.  He just trusts in you right now.  In a few minutes, he will trust you some more, and so on. He is lucky to have such loving parents with so many wonderful resources to guide him through this period of old man dawg.

I don't fully know what you're both going through because with Loki we had the 99% prognosis she would recover fully back to her orney self and she's about 9 or 10 years old. Still, the Battleship could fool us all and be springing around in a week!  David C. & Mike--and probably a few others can guide you best here.

Give the litle (little--what am I saying? he's the size of a sheep) dude a special cuddle for me.

I am just sitting here shaking my head. Stormy is something else! He is an amazing spirit on his own but you and Deb (and Sophie) have put the fight in his soul. We humans can learn a lot from him...Les said it well. He really is so lucky to have such a wonderful family. I have been praying for all of you I can imagine how much all this stress has done to you all but it's worth it all I'm sure to see those trips to the water bowl and sparkle in his eyes. Please keep us updated and give him a cuddle for me too.
