NEW Update on Mimi

Keep all those prayers and well wishes coming because apparently they ARE WORKING!! I just talked to Mel a few minutes ago. Mimi is home with her (yea

). They saw a different Vet this morning and were with him for an hour. He feels Mimi is having seizures instead of strokes. He feels the seizures are what is bothering her neck. He is doing blood work to make sure all her organs are working properly and gave her steroids. He also placed her on Phenobarbitol for the seizures and said it should kick-in in about 48 hours. Mimi is resting comfortably and Mel is quite relieved but exhausted as she did not sleep a wink at all last night. Mel is going to try and get some rest now and may be on tonight to post or will post an update for you all tomorrow. I will call her tonight to see how they are both doing. Again, please keep those prayers and rays coming

I am so relieved as I know you all are!!! Mel thanks you for your love and friendship. It means the world to her!

We've got all our paws, toes, and fingers crossed and sending positive thoughts and rays to Mimi and Mel! We're so glad to hear of improvement and that she is being seen by another vet! We'll keep those rays a comin' from Greenacres!

Oh wow - that is excellent news !!!!! Sometimes a new person in the mix can really make a difference..... Rays and prayers still going to them in full force. Thx so much for keeping us updated !

Just a quick minute to give an update. I will post more later when I am not at work. Mimi is doing great. She seems like a new pup with the new meds. The vet said it wasn't strokes!!! I am glad we saw a different vet. They really had me believing it was time to say goodbye! She is doing her princess prance again and her eyes are bright as well. She is one happy pup. Not in pain either. SO I am really excited to have my ol' Mimi girl back. Thanks for all the rays and prayers!! They really worked!! I have been through on heck of a roller coaster ride the last week so I am glad that things can get back to normal. I should hear back today from the vet on all her blood work and will post again to give that update.

Thanks again everyone!! Cheryl your a great friend and I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't have called you the other night!!!

I heard from the vet!!! I really like this guy!! He said the Mimi's triglycerides were 1306! They should be 115 or below. He said that with a count that high that could cause the seizures. So I have to put her on a high fiber, low fat diet. She isn't over weight at all. Actually she lost some weight in the last couple of weeks. But he said that some dogs just have high counts. So I will be stopping at the vet again after work to pick up a special food for her. And now is a good time to get her to eat the new stuff since she is also on steroids for her neck. She will be hungry and will hopefully switch over to this new food with out a problem!!

After I hung up the phone with the vet, he called my mom. She went with me yesterday and of course takes her black lab Katy in to them. They are all good friends up there. This vet was actually the one who had to go out to her place to help send their black lab Guiness to the bridge when he got liver cancer. The vet was a wreck!! So he really knows the family well. Anyway, this morning when he called her he gave her an update on me!! She thought at first he was talking about Mimi because he was saying that "she is doing better today". Mom said that she made a comment about the meds working and he just replied "oh, did she get something from her doctor to help her through this? Because she sounds fine, she is at work!!" That is when mom knew he was actually giving her an update on me!! I guess I was really out of it yesterday when I saw him and he was worried about me too!! Yep I like this one. A lot better than the other one who wanted to put Mimi down!!!

I'm so glad Mimi is feeling better and I know you must be feeling great! What a wonderful feeling to have found a vet you know you can trust. Hopefully the worst is behind you now and you can enjoy a happy Mimi for a long, long time.
