Loki havin' a puny day. :-(

After two weeks of being off all meds and acting like a general idiot (running, eating ground apples, barking and rolling in bird poop) she's havin' a puny day.  She peed on the sofa last night.  I know! I know!  She hopped up there before we could stop her.  She barked at DH and then squatted and peed. (she didn't just "leak".) After that she looked ever so ashamed.  She nevah pees in the house unless she is sick.

I gave her Metacam this morning and put her in the x-pen with her favorite blankie.  Send a small ray that she's just overdone it and needs some rest and not--God Forbid--something more serious.  (Of course, the odds are in her favor, but then again, look at our pal Cliffie.)

A few rays would be appreciated.  :heart:      Thanks!

Ya know, I really do love the little creep and of course I don't want to see her in pain, but part of my anxiety is always projecting that the worst will happen. 

And the worst DID already happen and we handled it really well. We got all the services we needed and we were able to provide her with all the best possible care BUT here it is the middle of summer and I worry--what if the weather is bad when we go to the emergency vet?  How will I pay for another surgery? 

This is a normal anxiety for a situation like this, right?  I would feel less anxious if this were a hoomon who could articulate their pain level, though.

Any suggestions to  keep my mind from exploring all the worst possible scenarios??

Oh Leslie....I am definitely there!  You are definitely feeling "normal" in your current situation.  Barb is right...that is the hazard for loving our furbabies!!!  I am constantly on needles and pins.  I check Zoe's "swagger" all the time for anything out of the ordinary.  I don't worry too much about the cost....heck, I am paying Care Credit off right now for Zoe's last bout a couple months ago (the swing incident).  I constantly check Winston too, as he has had a mild bout.  I just feel that whatever it takes, is what I will do if the worst case scenario happens again.  Have been through it once...will get through it again.  All we can do is HANG IN THERE!!

Uh, I believe you dis-remember--this is the first I have heard of that device.  Sounds like something Uncle Fester would use.  Vicoden is my choice of cure.   :crazyeyes:

I'm sorry she's having a little set back. As for the anxiety...as all the others have said...we're with ya. Ya just have to tell yourself you can't change what's gonna happen. All you can do is plan for it (arrangements, financially) and hope you never have to put the plan in place. I think Barb said it best...hazards of loving those furbabies.

Any chance it could be a bladder issue/ infection rather than her back??  I remember reading something on Dodger's list about bladder issues and constipation with long bouts of crate rest.

Well, you're just being a good mom & its hard to not think the worst.  Just try to keep your chin up and remember this disease takes a LONG time to heal.  Franky's was cervical and we still had episodes a year or so after, but the episodes have gotten fewer and farther apart.... we keep meds on hand and visits to the chiropractor seem to get him back to normal.
Try to keep positive and cross those bridges when you get there.

been where you are a year ago, the panic stage, sort of getting there now, but remember its the jump down that's the worst. The peeing could be just excitemnet.
