Our new rescue, Bailey, has the worst breath ever  :eeew:  I just don't know what to do.  My sister was over this weekend (her first time seeing Bailey) and I mentioned to her that her breath was real bad so not to get too close for her to kiss her.  And then I mentioned that we are bringing her in on Oct 7th to have her fixed and have her teeth cleaned (they are really bad).  Well, my sister said that her bad breath might not be from her teeth but rather due to her tummy.  I guess I never thought of that....   Anyway, here's the situation:  When she came to us her poops were very soft and a light brown color (where as Daisy's are firm and dark brown), they almost look like if a raccoon or possum were to poop in the yard.  I had figured that she just was never given healthy food so her insides were messed up, but she has been on good food (solid gold) for over a month now, and still there is no change to her poops.  Has anyone else heard of this???
Does anyone use Oxyfresh or another product with their dogs and how well does it work with bad breath (if it isn't the actual teeth)???
Any help would be appreciated,
Stacey

Stacey,

Your sister is right! I am sure Bailey needs a dental but in addition to that you might try giving her 1tbsp of non fat plain yogurt along with her food. I have found that it sometimes helps along with regular teeth brushing ;)

Good Luck

My Brandy has bad breath.  She is also one to collect wax in her ears.   I find when I clean her ears out (with a wash) that it helps her breath.  You might have them check Baily's ears to make sure there is no infection in them.

Bratpak and Lauri

You can also try a raw diet.  I feed my Bratpak raw food (human quality only) and I found that espacially raw carrots helps for breath - I buy baby carrots and slice it into their raw mince so they have to chew the carrots.  They love it, it's healthy and it help to keep their teeth clean   :thumb:

Hopefully the vet will have some answers but I would try the yogurt for sure. You also might go to the health food store and ask for some digestive enzymes. They will help her body digest her good food. I also use the Oxy Fresh and I haven't noticed a difference. I will say before the house burnt I used chicken wings or turkey necks with my gang and if they will chew on them and their teeth aren't to bad. This will clean them.
