Yes, puppers and puppettes, boys and girls and Master-almost-born James Coover-in-utero - Auntie Karen is on the case!

Now for the story:

Last Thursday, as I sat in the kitchen missing Roscoe-Angel, I decided to e-mail Jim and Leslie Ingram of Almost home Dachshund Rescue to tell them of his passing.  When I went on the web site, of course there were all those doxies!  Deborah Kerr sang it in "The King and I": "No matter where I go, I'll always see - Those little faces looking up at me."  But I not really looking yet - the loss is still too new, too raw and fresh.

But I can always look over the available doxies, right?  The stories are heart-grabbers, and there's always so much info about their dachshunds - you never adopt a pig in a poke from Almost Home.  But I'm not adopting, right?

I read all the bios, and no one jumps out at me, no one face has my image in her sights.  I'm only looking at girls, you see. I've had male dogs now the last eight years and the dog before Cooper-Angel was also a male.  I've loved each and every one of them, but I've had enough furniture marking to last a lifetime!

The site lists other rescue organizations so I start surfing.  And it's when I'm on the Southern States Dachshund Rescue that I see a face.  And a name.  And I know in an instant that the dog-a-pult has scored a direct hit.  If this little lady's beautiful, soul-filled brown eyes don't get me, her name tells me that G-d has sent her to me.  You see, my children (they should be like the Czar and live and be well - far away from me!) all call me Imma.  it's Hebrew for Mommy, and it's pronounced "EE-mah"  And what does it say on this girlie girl's piccy?  IMA!!  I mean is that meant to be or what??

I read that her full name is Ima Redneck.  She an AKC that had a ruptured uterus at her first breeding and was spayed to save her life.  She is living with her owner/breeder/foster mom, who is a responsible breeder and only puts her breeding stock up for adoption through SSDR.  Ima's dad is a champion dachshund named Cowboy, and all his daughters got cowboy names.  So where else should Ima live the rest of her days but with The Herd?

D'Niel and I are leaving Sunday morning and driving to Knoxville and staying the night with Darcel and Solly at Darcel's dad's house.  Then Monday we hit Memphis, get our girlie girl, visit Graceland and the MLK national site, then head back Wednesday and get home Thursday.  Guinness is going along for the meet and greet with Ima.

I can't wait to meet her!   I'll keep you updated.

Love,

Karen

Wow, what a way to be pelted by the catapult - er, dachsapult.  How wonderful of her breeder to get her spayed to save her life and what a thankful little girlie girl she'll be!   I have my first boy in 29 years, and now you are getting your first dachsie girl - isn't rescue wienerful?  :hello2:

I love what you wrote Sandi!
Karen, When I read your post again, I started thinking about something. Roscoe may be doing more work than we are giving him credit for. Not only did he put the dog-a-pult in motion and send you a little girl to love, but he is giving you and D'Niel some quality time together on this trip. That is something I'm sure you could both use right now. Graceland  sounds like fun. There's also a pyramid in Memphis, but I have no idea where. I've only seen it from the sky. Meg says that Nashville has the Parthenon and Memphis has a Pyramid!
I've always learned to never underestimate the power of a doxie, here on earth or at Rainbow Bridge.

You're right, Teresa!  This is shaping up to be a great week.  D'Niel is actually looking forward to it!  He's been so nice, so pleasant, and so accomodating - "WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MY SON???!?"

LOL!!

We're off in the morning - we'll keep you all posted!
