comment on back meds

Since the effect of muscle relaxants and anti imflammatories are cumulative -- that is that they take some time to "kick in" and work--they also wear off at the same rate.
We tried to wean Loki of of her meds and she was doing well, but 48 hours after her last muscle relaxant she looks terrible again.  Will try one more week of the crate rest and these meds and re-evaluate next week.  The problem with the Valium is that after she starts to physically feel better she wants to blast around. (and lemme tell ya, this med make ME want to sing show tunes,  so I totally understand.)
If you can spare some rays, we would appreciate it.

She is not going back to the vet as she is displaying no nuero markers.  Obviously, if that changes, will go posthaste.  My life is not being made easier by the fact that we have THREE groundhogs in the yard (papa hog moved over from next door where there is some construction) and we have a sliding glass door that the pups can see through.  Last night we rigged up a piece of cardboard to block the view but I KNOW that Loki  hear them. (The baby one whistles to it's mama.)

Now, my dad, who spent some years on a farm as kid sez that these things taste like turkey dark meat--so that's another reason Loki is hot for them--she can SMELL how delicious they are. mmmmmmmmmmm graaaaaaaaaaaaaaavy.

Hahaha...I can just see her standing there wanting to get at them sooooooo bad!!  Is she just kind of "mopey today"?  No shivering or anything, correct?  Is she moving kind of slowly?

A little shivery but mostly not wanting to move, but I know she CAN.  "WAIT!  Is  that mom over by the cookie jar?"  Of course, the grass was wet and it was kinda cool this morning.  She got a half hour with the heating pad, too.  Mornings are the worst for her generally.

She sounds so much like Zoe.  With all these storms, the grass has been wet for days.  I will set her down outside to pee and it's like, "Oh no momma, you sat me down in this toxic wasteland", "Ewwwww, lemme in da house!"  When her feet get wet from the cold grass she kinda has some "shivers" but other than that, she has been okay.  We are starting her step-down process from the "Dex" beginning today.  I am crossing my fingers that when she comes off of it entirely, she will be feeling okay.  She has passed all her neuro exams too, just like Loki.  She also comes to life if I walk by the crate with anything to eat...she stands at attention, wags the tail, etc.  I think you are very wise to keep Loki on another week of crate rest, meds and evaluation next week. I am sure the heating pad will help her also.  Crate rest is a God Send.  Again, hoping and praying for Loki to feel much better next week

My 

Try classical music on the radio to mask the sounds from the groundhogs and generally lower her attentiveness.  It helps and soothes dogs.  (Not Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" though!!  LOL!)

I keep the radio on near the back door all day.

Yes Amy is our "how dare you even think I'm going out there in the damp"  I have two stratagiesone is like Karen really cheerful lets go GIRLIES and she usually bolt out, the other is lift her put her down and tell her I'll pick her up if she goes, and she usually does then looks at me, "get me up you promised"
