...and she's snuggled down into my lap as I type this!

First, a big Thank you to Janet for taking a chance on this little one.  If she had not gone back to the shelter...

And, thank you Sherri, a stranger Janet met at the groomer, for bringing her East.  We are strangers no more.  I had checked the ticket price for me to fly to Jude and bring her home and the cost was over $350.  Janet knows; I was giving up.  When Sherri and Janet met, and Sherri offered to carry Jude, it was a small miracle.  Jude's ticket was $65!

Sherri was a wonderful foster for Jude!  She slept in the "big bed" Monday and Tuesday nights and when I arrived to pick her up Jude was already guarding her new home.  Jude was cold, so Sherri gave her a Harley t-shirt.  She looks adorable in it!

And, I will not forget the generosity of this board to help Jude get back East.  I have received $110 towards Jude's adoption and airplane ticket.  This is not the best of times for many of us and I appreciate your generousity and caring for this little one.

The past few days have been hectic for Jude.  Janet passed her to Sherri on Monday morning and by evening she was in PA.  I left Tucson on Monday evening and arrived in Philadelphia on Tuesday morning.  Sherri and I had agreed on a Jude exchange for Wednesday just in case there were any travel difficulties.

I drove from NE MD to just south of Pittsburb, or 500 miles, about 11 hours, on Wednesday.  Jude and I were whipped last night and slept in this morning.

So, for the real news...

Jude is doing just fine.  Patches and Dottie sniffed and then ignored this new addition although within a few hours, all were in a doxie heap on the sofa.  Jude has a lovely voice and she barked at Daddy when he got home from work.  She is still very thin and I can only imagine how she looked when Janet found her.  I was very surprised when I took off the tee shirt.  I knew she was a black and tan; but, I didn't know she was a dapple too!  She is very expressive and her tail wags most of the time.  She is not too skittish (we've seen worse) and I have not seen any agression...well, just a wrinkled lip at Patches when he tried to steal her dinner this evening.  She gave him the "lip" and he backed off...good girl!

We all took a walk this evening a Jude went the whole mile with us.  I wasn't sure she was strong enough yet and thought I would have to carry her part of the way.  She was happy and her tail was wagging.

A week ago I thought, "not a snowball's chance" and now, she's here, sleeping in my arms.  Amazing!

Some pictures will be posted as soon as DH downloads them for me.

Jude and I send our sincere thanks to all for helping make this happen.

As Janet said, Jude weighed 7.4 lbs at her vet visit.  She will be going to our vet next week so that we make certain that she is still improving.   Based on her body structure, long and lean, I suspect she will fill out nicely to about 10-11 lb.

Janet did a great job getting her back on her feet.  Her tail is still dry and showing hair loss; but, her coat is shiney and I think continued good nutrition combined with moderate exercise will have her fit in no time.

Ken says Jude needs a new name.  We will have to see what her personality is like.

And, the other possible good news for me...Jude may be a mommy's girl!  if so, she will be the first.  Ken is such a "dog whisperer" that all of the previous fur-kids were more "his" than "mine".  Perhaps it is because he is much more generous with the treats?  Jude seems to prefer me...so far!

This is one of the greatest stories on the board. Close to the one of the Z's with David, except they were nowhere near close to death.
When I read in your first post that her tail was wagging and she was happy, I couldn't help but to think that somehow she knew she was in her forever home. I'm glad to know you may have a mama's girl. Tell Ken he can't whisper to her and "steal" her.
I can't wait to hear more stories about her transformation.

But, I found the post where Jude came home thanks to the warm hearts and generosity from this board.

We may be celebrating her "Gotcha Day" a little late; but, i don't think she'll mind.  She's curled up inside a pink fleece in a recliner chair next to her hoo-dad...

This little one is doing very well and she has all of you to thank!  New pictures coming soon...she's a little tank!

Congratulations on the newest member of your family. I'm so jealous. I desperately want another, however my husband says no way.
Jude looks lovely, and I hope you have many wonderful years enjoying her and spoiling her rotten along with the rest of your pack.
