Jude came through her surgery, etc with flying colors. She is taking it easy for the next few days. The vet estimates her age at 5 years old. She weighed a whopping 7.4 pounds, did not have to have any teeth removed during her dental and is also heartworm negative

We have already listed her on Petfinder - I plan to wait for the perfect home for her, however long it takes. If one of you are interested, let me know. You would probably need to be within driving distance of North Texas - I doubt she would do well flying!

Cookie hs a backyard, why not a sister? I think it would be great if Jude went to one of the Weiner Writing families. Actually it would be just perfect. Since I'm not so sure Molly would be too accepting of anyone new (she is getting old and Grumpy) we can't get her. Randy did say he would have considered her otherwise. I hope she finds the perfect family soon.

Oh, I would love to adopt her.  My DH is not ready for a 2nd one yet, and I have to agree... reluctantly.
My other fear is that this timid sweet dog would come into our house and Cookie would scare the crap outta her.  Cookie is VERY alpha, and does not like new people or dogs in our (excue me, HER) house.   I know it could work, but the timing isn't right. :sad7:

Maryland is too far away from Texas!     :doah:

I could fly out and bring her back in a Sherpa...

Patches and Dottie would love having a sister

I'm certifiable...

Dianne, I thought of you right off the bat. I didn't think you had adopted anyone yet and that you were still waiting on the dog-a-pult to strike. If you fly down, and she flies back with you, she might be just fine. I really hope this could work out...

Maybe we should start a fund "The fly Dianne to Texas to adopt Jude fund". Put me down for $25.00.

That's a thought. Bet we could get lots of contributions. If Dianne goes for it, I'm in!

OMG...  I go away for a few days and good things happen...

I'm visiting my son and his family in Tucson and just logged in through their computer...and this is what I see!  OMG...this is just crazy enough to work out.  Although, I better talk with Janet before we go too far!

And, yes, little Jude would have a forever home with us!

HEY, HEY, HEY!!! :meme:

I AM CURRENTLY IN NASHVILLE TENNESSEE, AND I'M HERE UNTIL SUNDAY OR MONDAY.  IF YOU CAN GET JUDE CLOSER - CAN WE RELAY HER TO MARYLAND?  I CAN TAKE HER ON!!

I'm totally serious, folks!  People do this all the time!  Can we figure it out?

I'm doing much better with dachshunds and rabbits."

That's some good thinking Karen. You're right about the relay. I have a friend who works with the Maine Coon Rescue and they are always posting, looking for people to help transport rescues to their forever homes. It is amazing how far they get these pets, with most people just driving 100 miles or so.
Have you done anything fun in Nashville? The Opryland Hotel is always a cool thing to check out. And if you want to be outside (if the weather is good) and you have the time, check out their Bicentennial park downtown. It is behind the Capitol (as in, if you are in the park, you see the back side of the capitol and can walk up a ton of steps to get to it!)and on Saturday mornings they have a State Farmers Market there.

I am here until Monday for car repairs.  D'Niel and I are just hanging out together trying to figure out how responsible adults could have mapped out the Nashville highway system without having been on drugs at the time.  We thought Graceland was in Nashville, but it's evidently in Memphis.

We have been cruising the mansions in the Belle Meade area - these people must have gardeners on full-time just to mow the lawns!!!!

So if you want me to ferry Jude, make some calls and we'll do this!

If you do have transportation, then definitely try to get to the bicentennial mall area. It's just a great relaxing outdoor park, and has some great history things there. If the weather is beatiful, you will really love it. If you need any other suggestions, I'll ask Meg and she'll be sure to give you plenty, and they will be cheap since she was on a college budget while there. Also, in the Hillsborough village area, near Vanderbilt, there is a used bookstore named Bookman/Bookwoman. REally great bookstore with a huge selection. May even get D/Niel reading some, if he doesn't already.

You will not be dissapointed, Karen. You will love that area of Nashville. We always have to go there when we visit. May meet some interesting people, but it's a really great area. Like a little town within the city. I can't wait to hear what you thought of the bookstore.
Glad to hear D'Niel will be heading to Maryland with you. I'm sure you'll be glad to have him there, and to no longer be driving to Tennessee. Wonder what the 4 legged ones will think about another human in their space....

You've got to love Karen's and Dr. Hop-Along Leaky's enthusiasm. There is an interesting development here in Texas which I will post under a new heading. I need to e-mail Dianne first.
