Hello!

I went to the other boards, which I had posted to only 2 or 3 times, and I found a link to here.

I figured it would be a good time to re-introduce myself.

My name is Dawn and I have Buddha, an 8 year old female dachshund mix I got in May, a rescue of sorts.  Her previous owner was going to put her to sleep because "she smells".  I couldn't let that happen. So now I have a wonderful little dog who loves everyone.  Loves to snuggle and get herself tangled in blankets, and rip the stuffing out of any and all stuffed animals she can find.  My other dog plays with stuffed animals for fun, Buddha is on a mission to "kill all small furry critters".  And yes, she smells - like a dog! - those people were nuts anyway. 

I also have one cat, Ruben, Buddha doesn't seem to even notice him.  She does, however, notice my small animals.  Due to an unfortunate chinchilla escape (chin escaped, buddha caught her - she's okay though), the small animal room is now "Buddha proof".  The chin cages are more secure than ever, and the chin room has a babygate that closes automatically (no door, and I can't install one because I rent).

This poor little dog has always been a loverdog, but her former owners just weren't the type to have a dog.  She got all the physical care she needed, vet care, nails clipped, etc, but she hadn't hardly been touched in the past 2 or 3 years, except to be kicked.  She bonded to me extremely fast.  When I first got her, she screamed any time I was not there.  My poor roomates.  She has gotten much much better and now only screams when she knows I'm home and haven't come downstrairs (I live in the basement).

Okay, that's probably enough.  I look forward to posting more in the future and getting to know everyone here.

Hi dawn, welcome.  I have 4 dogs, 1 cat, 2 chinchillas, and gold fish!  Do your dogs constantly stare at your chinchillas?  The big dogs ignore them, but my dachshunds go up to the cage and try to climb in and lick them through the wire.  Grace tries to climb the side of the cage.  The cage is 5 foot high and as they climb and jump inside, George and Grace do the same on the outside!  It is very funny to watch!

Buddha would like to eat the chinchillas.  That's why she is not allowed in the room with them :).
