Dee Dee and Hallie

A day at the horse races! (don't worry...the outing was vet approved and in fact, vet encouraged.) She's been to a bunch of horse shows with me over the years so is very calm. My cousin has a nice 4 yr old being trained at the track so we got to go behind the scenes today and watch the youngsters being worked. Hallie and I both enjoyed getting out and we even had sun. She made a little friend too.

She is feeling GREAT. Today she even did a play bow and barked at me. I am allowed now to let her walk around the house, just no hard running or jumping, etc (not that I ever allow that anyway). It is so good to see her starting to act like herself again, it has taken over 3 weeks. Due in most part to recovering from that myelogram. Her shaved patch sure isn't filling in yet though! She has plenty around it for a comb over so we're set.  :thumb:

Looks like fun! Good to hear you guys are getting out. She looks so comfy in there. And...wonderful to hear she's getting back to normal. That MRI really threw her for a loop, didn't it?

Awesome!  Way to go Hallie!  Keep it up, and you'll be fine before you know it!  :thumb:

Ohhh Roberta...I'll bet the coat is at the post office! I have gotten 2 notices in my mailbox that they are holding a package for me there but I haven't gone in because of Hallie. I don't know why they didn't just deliver it here, (if that is what it is) I get packages here all the time for both work and personal stuff. I can't think of anything supply wise I haven't gotten lately so I'm guessing it might be the coat at the PO. I'll go in tomorrow and see! I would hate to think it got lost!

My gosh , what I wouldn't give to be able to photograph those horses in that gorgeous setting! What a beautiful shot! Does your sister ride much? My cousins gelding, "Final Appeal" who we call Tucker, has a neat story. She rescued him a year ago from a neighbor who was starving him (he gave him to my cousin). He was skin and bones. She has several horses but he is the one I ride every time we go over there. She was able to track down his history and it turns out he is a grandson of Secretariat, (son of Tribunal), has Native Dancer, Noshua, Bold Ruler, etc on both sides. Then she found out he was started at the track as a 2 year old but was so big they sent him home to mature so they wouldn't damage his growing bones. He injured his back leg on a fence there, and was given to someone who gave him to someone who gave him to someone who gave him to my cousins neighbor. Now he is 4, and his leg looks to be fine. So last week she took him to a trainer at the track who actually remembered him as a 2 yr old and they were all excited to get a Tribunal son there. So we'll see how he does, they said he looks promising but time will tell, what a great story if he does turn out to do well though. It was really odd to see him on the track in that setting when I am used to riding him around a pasture, he looked like a real race horse. Also odd to see him all spirited and prancing around as I could barely get him into a lazy trot at my cousins.

Delia it was so good to get out and get some sun we were ready to come to Texas for some vit D! We are back to tons of rain and colder again today and looks like rain on and off all week. Yes I do think that is why she took so long to recover, my uncle was telling me he had a myleogram years ago and it was quite painful for a long time. I am amazed everytime I see her do something like her silly old self now I wasn't sure I'd see it again.

Thanks Les omg that little coat in your avatar is SO CUTE!

Brekke, I think you and Hallie must have been cut from the same mold! I have always thought you 2 look so much alike and sounds like you have very similar sweet little temperaments too!

Would love the feeling of cold and the wet part we have not had rain for about a month  in Melbourne.

Julie my sis is law teaches Gentle horsemanship and has now broken in a few youn racers and teaches them how to get into the barriers without the stress. Sparkie her latest she goes to the track in Bairnsdale to train and gets him her every other week-end to ride. The three in the picture are lawn mowers Bonnie is to old to be riden but they use her to put in with the young ones, she was Julies first, KIm is Bonnies bub and gets riden, but has a sore leg at present and Cara was one of their other horses (Milly) that died suddenly. Julie is amazing to watch a touch or a hand raise and the do what she wants. Ian (julies husband, my brother) has a policy no animal ever leaves there place if its old or can no longer be riden etc they have a home for life, and that goes for any four legged furkid.
Jane is my sis and she has two clydesdales  and a dressage horse and another little guy who was neglected and Jane got him to keep him safe, they are the guys that graze on our block...................Me I just manage to stay on.
The coat is not marvelous but its warm and I had made it a bit loose so it did not disturb her back.
