update on Patty

Patty is still having a rough time.  I am sure she can use your prayers and those powerful doxie rays.  If anyone needs her snail mail addy to send a card - let me know.  Below is the e-mail I got....


  I am still in a lot of pain.  Was supposed to have an evaluation at the Alaska Spine Institute last Wednesday, and somewhere between the time I left my house at 7am and got to Anchorage for my 9am appointment, they cancelled on me because the doctor wasn't going to be in.  They said they tried to call but there wasn't a message on my phone recorder when I got home so I don't think they tried to call me.  I got rescheduled for Monday.  I am hoping they will give me the cortisone shot for the pain, I cannot take this anymore.  Since I've already had the x-rays and MRI, I am assuming they might suggest surgery, I don't know.  We have consulted with the Laser Spine Institute in Florida, they took a look at my MRI report and said I was a candidate for the laser surgery, but to be sure they want to take a look at the MRI films, so we will be sending those.  They give an opinion free of charge.  We have since found out that the laser surgery is also available here in Alaska.  At least we will have a "second opinion" from the folks in Florida.  I am still not working and from the looks of things I won't be going back to work very soon.  I am on short term disability right now, and after 15 weeks my long term disability kicks in.  They cannot fire me or lay me off.  So I don't have to worry about how I am going to pay the bills and can concentrate on getting well.  Right now all I can do is lay down with the ice packs.  The pain makes me feel sick to my stomach so I am not eating much at all, and so I also feel weak which doesn't help anything.  So I am a real mess.

Thanks for the update Barb I have been thinking of Patty a lot too. Poor thing, she sounds just miserable. I sure hope they can fix her up in Anchorage so she doesn't have to go clear to Florida. It sounds like they are making progress though!

Rays and hugs, I hope they can do the work in Anchorage as I sure would not to fly in her condition.

Thanks for the update!  Back pain is miserable for anyone, four legs or two!  Pfeffie and I send our warmest wishes for a fast recovery!
