Randy was in our bedroom watching a reshowing of the Westminster dog show from last weekend. Schatzi was in her usual place, laying on his lap, napping. Well, the napping ended when she realized that dogs were on the TV (how she knew they were like her, I'll never figure out). We were entertained watching her as she watched them. Her eyes would get so droopy since she was sleepy, but she would keep watching until a commercial came on. Then she would nap for just a couple of minutes. At one point, I was walking around and came to the foot of the bed. Schatzi comes to me and wants to be picked up. She is fixated on the TV and starts shivering and whining softly. She is also straining in my arms in the direction of the TV. I start moving toward it and she is really shivering and started to whine and almost bark at the dogs on TV. Not only that, her nose is in overdrive. I'm starting to laugh really hard and so is Randy. I know the TV is HD and is 32" wide, but I would have expected Schatzi to think those doggies on there would be real. Apparently I was wrong! We have come to the conclusion that we will never have a television like this at floor level. The screen might now survive!

Ours don't notice any animals on TV but they bark up a storm if a door bell rings or there is a door knocked on TV.  Didn't realize how many time in a typical soap opera that doors and door bells are used until I tried watching with the dogs.

If Manny hears a dog barking on the TV he'll bark at it and if it's a show with animals he'll sit and watch it if he's in the mood!

Only one TV-related noise really gets our Doxie in a fit - the doorbell on the Domino's Pizza commercial!  Everything else she ignores, but that sound drives her nuts - you should see us dive for the remote to hit "mute" if that one comes on.  If we don't get to it fast enough, she's bothered for hours.

That's too funny. Just wait until you get hologram tv!

There used to be a commercial for a flea preventative that used a silent dog whistle as a prop, well Sully Angel would start barking every time the guy would blow the whistle.  We just got a HD television but Eddie doesn't even bother to watch it he just sleeps.

Meghan said yesterday they were showing a video on the news about a deer that was stranded on a piece of ice in a lake. They flew a helicopter overhead and used the wind from the helicopter to move the ice to shore where they could rescue the deer. She said Schatzi didn't move a muscle the whole time while she watched that deer on TV. In the meantime, I'm still laughing just thinking about Schatzi and the dog show. I was at work yesterday, working on a patient, and suddenly thought about it. Luckily, I caught myself before I laughed out loud. I wouldn't want my patient to think I was really losing it our something!
