We have been househunting off and on since October. After taking a break over Christmas, we found one we liked a couple of weeks ago. We made an offer, worked out a couple of details, and hte offer was accepted. We will actually close this Friday since we had already gotten pre-approved by the bank last fall. We won't move in until May, however, since the owners are going to be doing mission work in southern California and need to stay here until then. They will just rent from us until that time and we will have time to get rid of a lot of extra stuff. The "girls" will have a yard of their own, Schatzi for the first time. They will also have to learn to use a doggie door. That should be quite interesting. Molly has this thing about going through something that she thinks isn't big enough! We have one small section where we have to put up a piece of fencing and a gate and the backyard is enclosed. I can't wait to see the reaction we get from Schatzi. I'm going to go and take some pictures later this week and I'll be sure to post them when I do.

I did the same thing in 2005!  Sold my old house, bought my new house, remodeled the new house and used the five months to sort and clean!  Threw out a ton of stuff!!

Use the time wisely!  Congratulations!!!

Here is a picture of the outside and one of the kitchen. A co-worker of mine lives one street over and rides by this house each day. She also knows the people who live there.
She called to tell us about it the day the sign went up in the yard. My brother lives half a mile away and goes past the house when he takes my niece to school. He was planning to call us to tell us the next day. Randy saw it on Craig's list the day my co-worker called. We decided we had no choice but to go and look at it! These pictures are two of the ones that were on Craig's list. The piece of fencing that we have to put up will be in front of where the van is parked. We are going to do a white vinyl picket fence of some type.
I'm thrilled to not move in this soon. I was not expecting to find one this fast since we had no luck before Christmas, so I really need the time to get things done.

The lot is really quite small. Maybe 1/5 an acre or so.That is what we liked about it. The owners planted Leland Cypress trees down one side and there are some shrubs across the back (and no neighbors there) so it is pretty private. I have a feeling that training the dogs with the door will be comical. I'm sure Molly will be the challenge. A great example-If Molly is downstairs and wanting to come up and there is a laundry basket that is suddenly in the hall-not blocking it, but in the hall, she will stand there and bark instead of going around through the dining room to get to the same set of steps. I have been opening the sliding door the same width that the dog door will be to see if she will go out. She does, so that is a good thing. At least the weather will be warm when we move and Molly loves to go out in the warm weather. Hopefully it will work to our advantage. We plan to take both dogs over several times the week we are moving, when we are doing a few small things at the house, and get them used to the yard and the area. It will be nice to have a house that is one level, but it is also only 1100 square feet. Our condo is 1600 sq. feet, but we use very little of it because of the way it is laid out. The biggest difference is storage space. We have a ton of closet and storage here and not as much in the house. We will be creative and also decide we don't have to take everything with us.

Remember it is not he size of the house that is important, but, what's in it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and do you really want double the size.............vaccing, mowing, weeding, cleaning.

That's exactly why we decreased the size. Now we just have to decrease the stuff in it! We have a show called Clean Sweep on TLC that I'm watching a lot!! It's all about getting rid of unnecessary things. I've even bought the book. We'll see how well I follow the advice since I'm the packrat of the family.
