One of my girlfriends is celebrating one of her milestone birthday and wants to have a "slumber party" at a hotel for a group of us.  It will be on a busy Satuday work day and I told her it would be late before I could join in.   She said, thats fine and then you can spend the night with us at the hotel......    Errrrr..... I said, No I can't - I can't leave the doggies.

She said - you have never leave the dogs home alone at night?

I said.... Wellll NO !

So I will be joining in with the party group for a while that evening, then going home to snooze with my doggies.

Question - am I crazy?   I just do not feel right leaving them alone - I can just image what they would be thinking - LOL !

YOU ARE NOT CRAZY!!!! Just a normal doxie parent! I have to admit...half the time I would rather spend time with Penny than our actual human friends...LOL! We have never left Penny before for the whole night. She always stays with my parents if we are going to be gone.

My sentiments exactly !!!  I don't WANT to spend the night away from them !!!    The only time that I have since I have had them - Jimmy (hu-dad) was there with them and the ONLY time we both went away for a long week end - my doggie friend came into town just to stay with them !!!!

I would spend the evening with the girls, and then go home to my dogs at night.  I'm the type that won't get a hotel room, or stay with a friend, when a snow storm or gathering or whatever keeps me in Anchorage later than normal.  I will make that 50 mile drive home to be with Dan, the dogs and in my own bed.

I guess a slumber party with a bunch of girls would be fun, but I kinda put it in the same category as bridal showers and Tupperware parties.  I think its because I can't stand the dumb games they play.  Am I crazy???

Some things are easier to endure when you're sipping on a drink, thats for sure.

I am sooooooo with you Barb!  No way would I EVER leave my kids home alone at night.  Of course, they would probably eat the house in protest , but still NO WAY!
LOL on the games....I detest those silly things.  One of the nice things about getting a little bit older is being able to say.... nope...that doesn't work for me!  Have fun at the party and enjoy snuggling with your babies when you get home!

You are not crazy!!!!  I couldn't sleep thinking about my babies if I were away from them overnight.  I agree that I would rather spend time with them than with some of my hooman friends.....my pups and kitties are better company....they love me and ask nothing in return.....Enjoy the party while you are there and then go home to your family :thumb:

I would  NEVER leave eLlIe alone at home all night.      NO         NO         NO

eLlIe does love to stay with my neighbor Caryl who has SweetPea and Kera.  The only problem .... at home eLlIe sleeps ON the big bed,  at Caryl's she sleeps IN the big bed.

The only time I can think of when I ever left one or any group of my girls alone at night was a time when I had to board Sorcha and Brekke at a kennel about a mile from my parents' because their cat, Calli, could not handle dogs.  I visited them and played with them every day, though!  I have had pet sitters in my home or Brekke gets to sleep over at Auntie Brenda's, otherwise.   I would rather come back home to furkids than leave them, as well.

I'm with you, we even take them next door to a games night. Plus I like my own bed and noises of my own place.

It seems like every time I turn around, I am going out of town for one reason or another.  Right now I am trying to get out of a trip to Tennessee on February 3 and 4.

That having been said, I am very grateful to leave my boys in Ann's capable hands.  And I am EXTREMELY grateful to come home and sleep in my own bed with my boys!  I say "Whatever floats your boat!"
