Dee Dee and Hallie

Do you guys have any special games with your doxies? Hallie and I have several....one is "Rug Ride". She will sit on the kitchen throw rug and I take it by one end and pull her around on it all through the kitchen. She seems to love it, she will sit facing me (she could easily get off if she wanted) and often she will get up and turn around during the ride so her back is to me and she'll sit there with her ears pricked up just staring straight away from me like she's going on a car ride. It's so cute... When we stop she will sometimes do a little dance with her front feet and give me a smile and keep sitting there like hey my quarter ain't run out yet!

Also when the clothes are drying, she will go sit at the back door (that goes into the utility room) and lay there with her head between her paws and make her "monkey noises" (quietly whining..."ooh ooh ooh ooooooooooh....."). She wants me to get the clothes out I tell her I can't make them dry any faster than they already are. If I make a move that direction she gets up and spins a circle and does a little dance. When the clothes are finally done, she races with me to the living room and piles into them and I wrap her up good. I love to listen to her groaning in those warm blankets.

Another is I'll sit her in one room where she can't see me, tell her to stay, go throw a small treat into the living room, tell her to "find it" and she'll race out and search for it. I have to toss it away from me because she will always first go to where I last was in there. Smart little dogs these doxies!

Hallie girl - your mom rocks, doesn't she?   Fun games !!!   Mine don't wait by the dryer - but they come running when I have an armful to take to the bedroom and fold.  They are up the ramp and rolling very quickly !  When I cut of baby carrots into bite size pieces, I will scatter them all over the kitchen floor and will also chop very hard so they go flying off the cutting board - kids are chasing carrots all over !!!

One of ours is hide and seek. close them in the toilet(gives you more options) then one of us hides and the other waits 1 min and lets them out, Oliver runs around like and idiot Amy uses her nose, its fun to watch from the hidie hole, they get a treat when they find you. The down side is sometimes I go out and hang out washing and they did not see me leave so they then think when they find me I was hiding.

Find Squeaky is Olivers other game.
The other if you call it a game is when the ice cream maker goes to hold they run and bark to the kitchen, they get a taste.
At present we are trying to get them to sit and wait for the dinnie bowl to get to the floor. Oliver empties it before it reaches the ground. Which ever one you do first is Ok its the second that jumps about like a mexican jumping bean. Amy has always been good, but lets you know when you are getting it ready.

Penny really likes to be chased so we play the "I'm gonna get you" game. Quietly in her ear you say "I'm gonna get you" and she goes nuts! She races to her toy basket to get a toy (you know you can't run without a toy in your mouth) and then the chase begins! She really loves it when Drew plays this game with her.

Chap loves to play tug with any dog bed, rug, towel ..... anything he can get his teeth on and pull.  The trick is that you have to be standing with your legs apart just enough that he can back between them pulling his object of choice.  The human part of the trick is that you do not pull the object you just let Champ pull it and wedge it between your legs and then he starts this ferocious growling and snarling all with his tail wagging a mile a minute.  Sometime he will let you just stand on the object but be careful this mini Weiner can pull a rug out from under you before you know what happened(that is from experience).  He plays this game with Smokey sitting on the dog bed and he will drag it around the kitchen and under chairs (that is when Smokey stops playing)

MimisMomma

I would have to say Mimi, Tuttle and now Carson all love the "attack Daddy" game. When he finally lays down for bed at night it is game on for them!! They all attack him with the kisses that can go on for at least 20 minutes! Then after the kisses they wrestle with him. Of course it helps tire them out for sleep and I laugh so hard I cry most of the time because they are relentless with him. And that usually happens every night!

Other than that they love the crazy runs. Mimi will stand in the middle of a room and just bark at Tuttle and Carson as they run by. She is getting lazy in her old age!! Then Scott and I will each get on one end of their "laps" and act like we are going to chase them and the love it!!

I am a better person because I have my Mimi and Tuttle and now Carson!!!

We LOVE to play Dancing Baby!  I take a blanket and throw it over them and they dance all over trying to get to me.  All four of mine like to play tug and we have this really great toy with rope arms and legs so I grab the body and each dog gets an arm or a leg.  I recently learned that Toby understands the command "fetch".  Must have been from his previous so called life.  We do play fetch but usually refer to it as Go Get It.  A friend was over and threw the ball and said "fetch".  Toby went and got it and brought it right back.  I've often wondered if that is an actual memory...in which case he would most likely remember things that I prefer he NOT remember from that time in his life or if it is just a learned response.  I would think the latter but it sure makes for interesting day dreaming when I should be working!
