that had all four dogs going nutso with barking!  Poor little girl - she is obviously a dachsie mix - a very tall black and tan girl with a dachsie face, but "other" ears.  About 40 minutes ago, Mocha and Brekke began raising a big commotion in the side yard.  When I looked out, imagine my surprise.  It is too cold for me - as a transplanted CA girl, anyhow, to go out yet to check and see how she got in the yard - there is a 6 ft. fence.  I quickly got all four dogs inside and shut the doggie door.  I haven't seen her for about 20 minutes, but Mocha and Brekke were beginning the tag team nips, and she was snapping back, although she clearly wanted me to pet her/let her in/give her some attention.  I have a feeling she lives behind my hostess' home, because I have seen a dachsie colored dog through the fence, but that was a few weeks back, and I hadn't seen her lately.  I hope she got back to her yard and a warm home.

We've had canine visitors, too, but none of them have made it past the fence.  I've got the fence fairly well buttoned up so that these dogs would have to have some kind of leaping ability to clear the split rail fence.  It seemed for a while all the neighborhood dogs would make a beeline for our backyard when they got out, got loose, etc.   It happened more with Rudy & Max than the Zs...maybe because the Zs are more hospitable to strangers.   Zeke is all talk and Zora seems to be indifferent to them.

The wind, someone, or somedog, had nosed a loose board in the fence.  I couldn't find a hammer, but I did use one of the staples and a nice big round rock to pound the board back into place.  I do believe the little dog was from the yard to the west and she slipped through - it was wide enough, and she was slim and trim enough!

Goodness some excitement at the doxie yard!  :thumb: Did you ever see if she was home ok?

Well, I can't be positive, but I hear a little dachsie-like bark from that yard again. so I think she must've made it home safely - that was the only place in the fence which had room for an escape artist to wiggle through!
