We have Christmas at my house - both my brothers and their families come over....including doglets.  We will have 9 humans and probably 5 doggies - counting Ru and Bran.   We are casual, and have coldcuts, snack/finger foods and just enjoy the day.   The youngest is 11 yrs old.... I miss the days when the kids were very young - and all the toys they got !!!!   It gets so hard when they get older to buy for them !!!!  I am baking cookies today and need to do a final dusting, then I am ready !!!!

Wishing all of you, humans and puppers a wonderful holiday filled with love of family and friends !!!

I'm working today and covering the office so all the other staff could have off.  Hopefully our Headquarters will call and let us go early but if not, I'll work until 5.  Dave and I and the puppers are spending a quiet evening at home with finger foods for dinner.  Tomorrow the kids will be over so we'll spend the day together and then enjoy prime rib for dinner.  Then I can lounge for the rest of the week as I am off until the New Year!  MERRY CHRISTMAS - SEASON'S GREETINGS - HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!  Dee, Dave, Sarge & Duggie

Randy is at the Fire Department today, so after he gets off in the morning, we will open our gifts here then head to my moms and meet up with my brother and his family. They have a 10 and a two year old so we have the fun of the little one again. Of course, I had to find toys that made NOISE!! We will then go to some good friends of ours where we will have dinner sometime in the mid-afternoon and will hang around there for the rest of the day. We got together with Randy's parents yesterday since he works today, and Meg and I will also go to my mom's tonight to get together with all the cousins. I'm making an old-fashioned red velvet cake like my mom made every year when I was growing up. This one doesn't have cream cheese frosting, but a real light one made from butter and sugar and cooked flour/milk base. I haven't made it in a couple of years, so I hope it turns out okay!

Everyone's Christmsa sounds so nice!

Tonight we go to MIL for Christmas Eve dinner.  Cookie stays home- last time we were at MIL, Cookie bit the cat and wouldn't let the cat come back in the house.  Guess Cookie decided that house was her territory too.   So as a Christmas gift to my MIL's cat, we are leaving Cookie at home. LOL

Christmas Day will be relaxing- Cookie will get to open all her gifts (all our relatives get her gifts too- she is so spoiled!) and we will have a big CHristmas breakfast of sausage balls, homemade cinnamon rolls and mini quiches.  SIL is coming over and we are going to relax and enjoy breakfast.

That afternoon we are going to FIL's to celebrate with him.   Cookie stays home from that one too- my FIl is very tall and tried to play with her like a big dog once and she doesn't like him.  And we all know once a weiner dog doesn't like someone its yap yap yap the whole time.  :verdict:

I enjoyed reading what everyone is doing for Christmas!
Tonight (Christmas Eve) we will have our traditional Christmas Eve dinner of home-made pierogis, and shrimp with cocktail sauce, and champagne.  I grew up with pierogis on Christmas Eve, and its just not Christmas Eve without them.  Tomorrow morning Dan and I are going out for breakfast at our favorite breakfast place in the historic Palmer Hotel.  The are open 24/7/365.  They make killer Eggs Benedict.  A friend of ours is a waitress there.  She always works Christmas morning, not so much to give her co-workers a break, but to be there for those folks who have no one, and who show up at the restaurant daily to be with their "family" there.
After breakfast we will come home and open gifts.    I created a drink in honor of Misty -- fill a champagne glass halfway with pink grapefruit juice, then fill to the top with champagne.  I call it a Pink Misty.  We will sip those while we open gifts.
Christmas dinner will be roasted game hens with honey-orange glaze, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce and green beans.  I will also make a platter with a cheese ball, carrots, celery, apples and oranges.
No one is coming over, and we are not going anywhere.  Dan is still down with his ciatic nerve pain and is supposed to do nothing but rest and sit on ice packs.  I picked up a bunch of movies at Blockbuster, and we will watch movies all day and eat.

Barb

I love the Pink Misty - brought a tear to my eye....sounds like you have a new tradition and will have sweet memories....  I love your idea of the day - watching movies and relaxing at home !  I am trying to get all my housework and baking done this morning, so I can do just that this afternoon !!!  I still have all the movies my sister in law loaned me when I expected to have surgery....  Have a great day !

Hi, Barb!  I'll be heading over to my aunt's for turkey & dressing, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, salad, and parade snacks of a veggie tray & dip.  Dessert is my favorite - chocolate pecan pie.  Then we open our presents.

I love shopping for my godchildren who are now 17 and 14.  For my goddaughter (who wants to be a nurse) I got two sets of pedicure equipment - nothing is the same, and for my godson, I got a jar of complete cookie makings - except for milk, and a sizable gift card to Barnes & Noble.  That way, he can get dvds, cds, books, games, calendars, and even goodies at the Starbucks cafe inside.   As he was growing up, he was really into drawing, so I got him sketching pads, and "How to draw____" books.  He still has those, so he must like them.  He has accumulated a lot of artist's pencils and erasers and a really great suitcase filled with drawing supplies one year that I found at Sam's Club.  It is a wooden briefcase and it had acrylic paints, pastels, charcoals, palette knives, erasers, a palette, and some wonderful colored pencils - already sharpened.  His mom loves it because it keeps all that paraphernalia in one place - so he can find it, and she didn't see bits and pieces all over.

My friends and I already did our gift exchange, because Brenda went to Denver.  I got a Coca-Cola crate from 1950, the set of "Thin Man" movies on dvd, a Coca-Cola calendar, a fabulous 2008 devotional planner, a gorgeous dachse floor mat, and a pewter dachsie tree ornament.
A Happy Christmas to all!

 Merry Christmas its already here down under.
This is the last year at this house in the future my MIL can come up and have it with us to the block. She has been before but does not like staying at my families house so we have to ferry her to a B&B with a 40min round trip.

To-day we are having Nick's mum over  for Christmas Lunch.

Stuffed Tomato's
Salads and baked potato's
Prawns and Crayfish and smoked salmon (MIL said to get prawns as her part of lunch and said to get 2Kilos, I got them so I hope she comes hungary)
Dessert is white choc icecream with a red berry compote

Usually it 40C so cooking is s pain. Hence the above and Melbourne weather has done a reverse and its 18C to-day.
We will get out Rlph Amys singing dog and let her loose.

Have  happy one and be safe

Merry Christmas Everyone!  Everybody's Christmas Eve and Christmas Day sound wonderful.  Tonight we are picking my mom up and going to my sister's house for dinner (Lasagna with croissants, a veggie tray, pumpkin pie, Keylime Pie and my mom's special jello with fruit topped with whipped cream).  My niece and her husband will be there and she is due to have her baby anytime!!  Gee...think we might have a Christmas Baby?

We will open our gifts to each other in the morning and then go to my mom's house for our special get together with her mid-day.  After a couple hours of rest, we take mom to my SIL's house for Christmas Dinner (Spiral Ham, Turkey, potato salad, baked beans, and many desserts, etc).

It's a secret, so don't tell Sheba, Zoe and Winston, but Santa will be bringing them lots of treats and new Bobo's for Christmas!!.   Gary and I are both off work until 1/2/08 so after tomorrow we can rest!  May everyone have a safe and Happy Holiday Season and a Wonderful New Year!!!

We have had about 4 different Christmas events with family since so many people are out of town. For tomorrow though we are keeping it quiet. My mom and dad are coming over for breakfast and then later we will probably go to the movies with some friends. Wednesday my mom and I are going to hit the shopping malls for a little after Christmas shopping... Happy Holidays everyone!

Every time my MIL comes to any dinner I next the next day she is always sick & tells me about it.Then last year after Christmas dinner she told me how sick she was then gave me a cook book for my birthday in Jan??? No one else gets sick just her.

See if your mother-in-law eats the desserts, and if she does, and then gets sick, tell her she knew she was taking a risk-after all she thought she needed to give you a cookbook last year!!! Hope everyone stays well this year!

oh geez, you poor thing!  And then she gives you a cookbook?  Some people are just not happy unless they are miserable.
