In June we adopted a 5 year old double dapple mini dachshund.

He doesn't like men, but otherwise is very sweet. Does anyone have any ideas on getting him to adjust to my DH. He is better than he was when we first got him, but he still barks at him and is very nervous around him. He will go to DH for treats, and once I put him on lead, he will go for a walk with him. DH is very gentle with him, but he just can't seem to get over the hump and accept him as another pack leader.

Marge, was he abused by a male in the past?  I would say that the longer you have him, the move he will grow to love and trust your hubby.  It just takes time.  We got my Winston when he was three months old but he was in poor condition when we got him (ear mites, skin mites, ear infections, fleas), etc.  He is very emotional and "afraid" of everything.  Sometimes I wonder what was done to him before we got him :thinik:  I think trust is something that is built upon and it just takes time.  Good luck with your new "baby".  We would all love to see pictures of your two.
Lovingly owned by Winston, Zoe, Sheba, Callie, Tigger, Molly, Maggie, Oreo-Angel and Princess Angel

Supposedly he wasn't abused, but I have my doubts. He panics very easily. He is great with DH in bed as long as I am there. If I leave Wilson is gone too. LOL
