We are down at my Mums for the week-end and to get some progress on the house. We arrived Thur and it was a hot night............Fri was lovely and the evening cool, so when I woke at about 1am I could not figure out why I was so hot. Turns out when OLiver draped himself over the side of their bed and was snoring I shifted him backwards back into his own bed and knocked the electric blanket switch to on.................so one very hot mama

LOL that is a first!  :2funny: I can just picture it too...groggy Mom shifting dawg on bed, slowly nodding back off to sleep...realization gradually seeping into conciousness...is it warm in here or is it me? Brain not wanting to wake up if it's a false alarm...but dang yeah it IS getting warm in here!

How long til you were able to get back to sleep I'd have been awake the rest of the night!

How are things coming with the house?

LOL!!!  And how is the house coming along?
We are actually CLOSING on our refinance on Monday!!!   :hello2:  Then there is a 3 day waiting period, in case we change our minds (yeah, right  :verdict:) and on Friday the whole works goes to Recording at the Borough and its a done deal.  We will then have a house on 10 acres, and own 30 acres free and clear.   :apls:

:2funny: That is so funny Roberta!   Sounds like something that would happen in our house.   :doah:

Valerie

That is funny! :2funny:  I turn on my blanket every night to warm up the bed and have fallen asleep with it on and woken up hot!  How funny that you accidentally turned it on.

They had to increase the sand under the slab, but it should be done this week, they have the frame ready for delivery, and they hope to have that up in th efirst week of the new year as some of the builders are not stopping in January. The big shock was that they had told us they moved it back a metre to help with the slab and the costings, but it was closer to 4 metres. It does not make much of a diffrence only that the access to the back of the house where we had thought about putting a 3-4 bay shed is a bit narrower than we thought. We had been going to take the kids up so they could get used to the area, but with the power cable channel being about about 3 foot deep, we decided on next timeas if they went in they would have had to walk the length of it to get out about 100 metres. the
The site manager said he was up ther last week when a thunderstorm hit and he said he just sat and watched it was beter than TV. The big shock was the power channel and the cable cost we expected about $4,000 but lt as near 9,000 plus what we paid for the transformer its now all up about $17,000 for the power, but as NIck says it had to be done.

Dee Dee, I walked around for about 15 mins to cool off.

Eeek! I hope all these little blunders (and STICKER SHOCK!!!) will all wear off when you are in and enjoying your new home! At least progress is being made and like Nick says...it has to be done. When it gets stressful, just sit and take a deep breath with a wiener dawg in each arm and look out over that gorgeous view! That would do it for me.

LOL!!! I can laugh only because I've been there....although at this time of year here, there would be no getting too warm with with the blanket full on and if it did happen, it would take 1 second to cool off. Nights are cold now! Enjoy some of that heat for us.

Love the story of the electric blanket. Our bedroom is upstairs and is always warm. Schatzi is all the electric blanket I need and unfortunately seems to know when I need to be warm the least. That is when she is determined to be right underneath me. I move her over to Randy, she scoots right back over. At the warmest times, Molly decides to join in and lay against my legs. Thank goodness she is on top of the covers! Don't these girls understand menopause????
When is the house supposed to be done? I think you may have posted the answer before, but am not sure. At least they are getting the bulk of the outside work done in the summer months.
