Last night we went to bed early since mama had to be at work by 5:30 this morning.   About midnight I heard a weird Tromp, tromp, tromp noise outside da bedroom window.  Of course, My dachshund alarm system went off and I started growling.   Den mama woke up and heard it.  Daddy was still snoring away.  (He could sleep through a tornado ripping the house apart!)    Mama woke him up and daddy went to look out the window.  Daddy opened da curtains and SCREAMED!   Dere was a big cow head staring back at him.    :2funny:    Apparently da cows got out of da field dey were in and den came up our driveway and knocked down our gate.   :cussing:  Daddy jus' got it put up yesterday!!!

Anyway....dey had gotten into our fenced in yard and were too stoopid to figure out how to get back out.    :idiot:   Mama and Daddy were laughing really hard when dey saw da cows running back and forth trying to figure it out.  Daddy called da sherriff and about 20 minutes later we saw him coming down da road.   Well...dese were black cows, no white at all on them, one as standin in da road. I'm sure you can guess what happened.  Maybe mama has a sick sense of humor, but she thought it was kinda funny that the sherrif was going too fast and plowed right into one.  Don't worry the cow was not harmed!!   And neither was the sherriff.  The cruiser on the other hand.....

Once the farmer made it to our house at 1am he got to work trying get the 6 cows out of our yard.  We heard dis...."MOOO"   "You stupid idiots GO!!!"   MOOOOOO.  Well da poor guy worked and worked until 3 am and finally got them all loaded into a trailer.      Meanwhile mama was busting a gut laughing.  By the time they were all gone mama couldn't get back to sleep.   Needless to say, we only got 2 hours of sleep, so I'm grouchy!!!   :BangHead:

Mama finks you all will get a kick outta dis one.  Its not eberyday cows get lost in your front yard.  :2funny:  :2funny:

OK who is with me on this? I think we need to start a collection to get Porkey a video camera for around his house!! A cow staring right back at you while you look out the window!!! OK I would have screamed first then started laughing as well. It is never a dull moment at your house Porkey. My next vacation was going to be on an amusement park,  but can I come to your house instead, that would be more fun!!  :headbang:

I am a better person because I have my Mimi and Tuttle and now Carson!!!

I  vote for a video camera too. We want to see some of this stuff LOL! I hope the poor cow that got hit will be ok...he had to hit pretty hard to have damaged the police car. Did they tear up your yard? Or do you have snow on the ground now?

Well the cow is probably sore today, but it seemed fine.  The farmer informed me that the cow that was hit was being shipped this weekend. (if you get my drift)   In other words, she will appear at a grocery store soon. As far as the yard goes, I can't tell since i is covered in white stuff.  Wasn't a nice yard to begin with, so I'm not too concerned.

Strange thinga always seem to happen to us.  I guess God just knows when to set up a nice laugh for us.   :2funny:

Boy does this one sound familiar!
When Jeff and I first got married in 1970 we lived in the country and there was a field behind our house with cows in it.
The first happening was late at night and we were in bed.  I woke up and told Jeff the cows sounded really close.  He told me to go back to sleep but I got up and looked.  Sure enough there they were grazing around our back yard and by the apple trees. We had to call the farmer to come get them so they wouldn't get out on the highway.  It happened a few more times after that.

The last one I remember was when the lady farmer from up the road stopped and told us they were out. So she got on the phone and my friend Pam (another city girl) and I went out to make sure they didn't head for the road. We both went around the end of the house and they headed for the road so we separated and went around both ends of the house.  As we walked toward them they headed back toward the fence and then they jumped it.  When the farmer got there.  He was confused  " I thought the cows were loose." We said yes they were but went back in.  He asked where the break was so he could fix it.  He wasn't happy to hear that they had jumped the fence  He had to raise it higher or they would have kept doing it.
They are too big for me to want to mess with them  :2funny:.
