Why I can use some comfort food

I work for an Avionics and Communications company, in an engineering department that designs equipment that makes sure planes stay in the air, and even lands planes in weather so bad the pilot cannot see the airport, let alone the runway.  I'm the lone Administrative Assistant for this group.   Anyway, we are growing at a phenomenal rate.  I work with approximately 104 engineers and support people, and we are looking to hire 50 more engineers.  We have run out of office space and have just been notified that we are scheduled to move into a brand-new building being built across the street from us.  Scheduled to be done June 30, 2008.  However, we may have to move into a leased building before we move to the new building, because another engineering department is also growing at a huge rate and has also run out of space.  Moving engineers, computers, phones, printers, copiers, and such is a big deal, and I really don't want to do it twice in less than a year. :verdict:

Because we are moving into a new building, I am meeting once a week (for an hour-plus) with some other Administrative Assistants who are also scheduled to move into the new building, which takes a precious hour from my hectic work-week.  That is in addition to a bi-weekly meeting to assess floor space in our current building.

On top of that, we have been told that the 30-year's-worth of paper documentation that we have, documenting the history of our designs and research, cannot move with us.  It has to be scanned and electronically stored.  So, I'm scanning in documents that have been in storage for over 20 years, which is not helping my allergies one bit, not to mention taking up all of the time when I'm not dealing with 104 engineers and support people.

Highlights (or low-lights) of the new building:  Houses 722 people, parking for 700.  Many of my engineers who are in offices will have to settle for a cubicle.  Less storage space.  Oh, the cubicles and offices are smaller than what we have now. AND, if all the engineering departments that are scheduled to move into the new building actually move, the new building will be filled to capacity with NO room for future growth and hiring, so we will be in the same situation we are now. :doah:

When I'm stressed, I don't eat, so good comfort food will do me good.

Oh my gosh!! That would be stressful!   I hope your moves go smoothly.

WOW!  You not only need comfort food but you need Calgone to take you away!!!   That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Are you going to be able to keep the building you are in now? That would make sense to me, move half over to the new building and that way there is plenty of room. We have moved 4 times in the past year because the hospital is expanding the Radiology area and we seem to be the ones that get moved! So I really understand what you are going through. In one of our offices the wall caved in!! Yep nothing but stress!!

Please take care of yourself and eat plenty when you can. Stress will bring you down and we don't want you getting sick on top of everything else!!

I am a better person because I have my Mimi and Tuttle and now Carson!!!

You might want to consider getting an allergan mask to wear while handling the scan paperwork.  It's better to look a little odd that way than to have the allergies kick up.  Good luck with all this growth!!
There's nothing like having a dachshund tongue up your nose at 3 a.m.
