Neeki is her normal, friendly self, a little bossy at times, I think she is training to be herd boss (alpha mare.)
Patches is getting more lovable.  She equates me with cookies, and will let me pet her if I don't look her in the eye.

Oh my goodness, Patty...   They are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!      :thumb:     Philip finally got on our horse this summer...  She was pretty much broke by the end of the first week...  He has taken her on some mountain rides and she absolutely loves them...  So, I guess his breaking her wasn't as funny as I thought it would be, she was just too danged willing to learn...     :doah:     And, I had the video camera in hand, but nothing happened, she didn't even try to buck him once...   Strange...    Lots of treats to Patches and Neeki, they are gorgeous!!!!

I understand they were a beautiful sight running down the street when they both got out last fall.  Those two didn't know what to do with themselves once they were out.  They were just a-prancing down the street with tails in the air.......the neighbors loved it.  Dan and I just followed slowly and quietly until they wore themselves out, the little turkeys!  They weren't in any danger or near any busy roads, so we just kept an eye on them.

What kind of horse do you have, and how old is she?  It certainly doesn't hurt to let them mature a bit before riding them.

Hi Patty, our little girl is a 3 1/2 yr old Paint...   When we bought her, we were told that she was broke to lead, and found out later that she in fact was not...   UGH!!!   We bought her a year ago..  We didn't complain too much about them lying about her being broke to lead, considering that they were thinning out their stock, so we only paid $300 for her, and then found out that she was registered...  So, we have been working with her all year, and she now leads and is broke to ride...   YEAH!!!     :apls:   I thought it would take alot longer than it has, she was a little spitfire when we brought her home...   Threw a fit when we tried to lead her to the pasture, wouldn't come near us or let us near her...  Well, now she is an absolute angel...  And, man does she eat like a *Horse*...  lol   Here are a couple pics of her...   The first one is the day we brought her home (after she calmed down) and the second one was this summer the first time Philip got brave enough to get in the saddle...  lol    Oh, and a third about two months later...   That is our youngest on her (we wanted someone light) and Philip was at her side (just in case) with a friend leading her....
Her spitfire attitude at the beginning earned her the nickname "Tiny Dancer"...    I told Philip it was because she looked like they were dancing while trying to lead her to the pasture...   lol    I thought at one point she was going to throw him up in the air...      :2funny:     It was interesting...

I can't believe how big Neeki is now. She is gorgeous. I still remember waiting for her to arrive and those first pictures you posted! You were a nervous wreck!!!!
Have you tried putting a saddle on her at all, or are you planning to wait? I was thinking that at one time you mentioned getting her used to a saddle at least this summer sometime. Of course, I also remember her reaction to the red halter! And then the way she ran Dan in circles! I'm beginning to think I've gotten attached to your horse, at least a little bit. It may have something to do with her arrival being just a few months after I joined the board. I know she is 6 months younger than Schatzi so I can keep up with her age pretty easily.
I love Tiny Dancer. She is giving you a look in that last picture like "Who, Me?" All innocence. She is really pretty. I also love the landscape behind here. Beautiful country!

I just love watching her run....  It is just so gracefully beautiful how horses run, isn't it...   I can picture the painting now...  That would be awesome though...      :thumb:

:2funny:    That's Tiny alright...  lol  She is always so innocent...  Like when we first started leading her real well, she nibbled my butt....   Didn't hurt, just kinda shocked me...   I jumped, turned around and looked at her, and she had that same "Who, Me?" look then too...       :nana:      She's a stinker...  lol

I remember her now!  And I love her name.  She is the same age as Neeki.  I enjoyed reading about your experiences leading her and training her to ride, gives me hope for Neeki.  Neeki has been handled since birth, so she is a good people-horse, that will help when we train her to ride.  I enjoyed seeing the photos, thanks!  She's very pretty.  Paints are so striking!
