I choked!!!

Ya, i know dis is my second post.  Its cuz i got a scare dis afternoon.  I choked on my food!!  Scared da pee wight outta me.  Momma had to pick up my back wegs and push on my tummy weal hard.  Dat didn't work so she got a syringe full of pepsi and put it into my mouf.  Dat disolved da food a wittle faster and got it unstuck.  Man dat was scawy!!   

I'm ok now and neber stopped breathing or anyfing, but i'm sticking cwose to momma now.  By da way...pepsi tastes real good!!!   But, momma sez its bad for me and bad for my teef so I can't get anymore.   :verdict:  I say dats no fair!!   

Hey everyone,  OMG it was so scary to see my little guy gagging like that. I tried the doggie heimlich but it didn't work, maybe I did it wrong.  I hve no idea why i thought of Pepsi, but it worked.   First of all, we were lucky to have soda in the house at all since we rarely buy it.  i just had a sudden urge for some yesterday.  I guess it worked because of the acidity in it???  :thinik:  Who knows.   

Porky is just fine.  I madea call to the vet and he said no need to come in, just keep an eye on him.  But, he's playing around and "killing" his squeakies so I think he's going to be just fine.

You know you've had a calm few months, but I guess you wanna keep the excitement going, huh? Since the pit bull episode, you aren't giving your poor mamma any rest!!!
Since she has to study a few more hours right now, try to take it a little easy and just play carefully, okay??
We love to hear some of the Porky stories, but I think mamma needs a break.

Maybe your Momma should ask the vet how to do the Heimlich next time she is there once she knows it you most likely will never choke again.Reverse insurance if you know how to do it then you do not need it hopefully. Porky your Momma is to young to be getting gray hair she may need more stories for her book but I think you have filled you quota.Doxies are not like cats they are suppose to have 9 lives not sure about Doxies.

If he is eating his food too fast put a bone or ball, etc in the bowl on top of the food.  Make sure there is only about an inch or less of room between the item and the sides of the bowl all around.  This should slow him down so he doesn't choke any more.  Zelda did this all the time.  I did this for almost 15 years and she never thought to take the bone out, she just ate around it. 

I had to use water to loosen the food up a couple of times that was enough!!!
Tried this and it worked.

Glad you're okay, Porky Pie!  That WAS scary. 

My Dolly was the queen of Snarf.  I've never seen a dogger eat as fast as she.  The only thing that would happen occasionally was, hard kibble would get stuck in her teeth and I would have to either massage her jaw to help unlodge it or pry open her mouth and pick it out of her teeth.

Gunner chocked on a piece of rawhide one time,  and I have a meat baster I don't use,  I filled that with water and just squirted it into his mouth and that loosened it--no more rawhides for him.

Oliver does it every now and then mainly with chicken legs which he is banned from now. I had to give him the half himlock with him upside down.
Porky the food won't run away so take it slowly.

OM Goodness!!  Be careful sweet boy!!!....the food is still gonna be there....we have never had that happen here and I hope it never does...thank goodness you are a fast thinker....please be careful Porky Pie!!!
