Another seven minute update and guess who's NOT a dachshund???!!!!

Folks - you'all better sit down!

Remember how I did the DNA testing on Beau and Merlin?  Well, Merlin's test results came back and I got the shock of my life.

Now, Merlin has legs that dachshunds only dream about, and has a kind of multi-coat, like a broken coat Jack Russell or some other terrier.  So I was expecting something like that in his DNA mix.

What I was not expecting was this . . .

Merlin has absolutely NO dachshund in him.  He has no primary breed (that more than 50% of one breed).  He has a secondary breed and two others in the mix.  First, in the mix -

Bernese Mountain dog - which explains his need to run and run, looking for sheep he'll never find in Baltimore City.

Miniature Schnauzer -which explains his need to search every trash can in Baltimore City for rats.

And now, the biggest suprise - his secondary breed is. . .

YORKSHIRE TERRIER!

O.K., either his granmother was a slut or his grandfather somehow hit the jackpot.  But this has got to be the weirdest combination for a dog that looks like a dapple dahshund with longish legs.

SO . . . we are now a herd of three dachshunds and one "faux" dachshund, who is loved and adored and the sweetest boy, in spite of his family's priors!

P.S.  Some interesting news on the home break-in front.  Guess who got into my house, found the key to the garage, and got into it to take their hammock camping, while I was away?

I have pictures of the hammock on the ground in the garage, and a picture of it on top of the car, where they left it when they returned from camping Thursday.  So I'm letting the police detective know about this and will let them handle it.  Personally, I hope they arrest Noah, even if only for a few hours.  It would serve him right!

That's amazing that kind of combination would yield a dapple dachshund.   I wonder if they did a more in depth DNA analysis if they would find one or two dachshunds up the family tree.

Whoa! Waaait a minute! Tell me more about this DNA testing. I have not heard of this. How accurate is it? I wonder if it is wrong? Do you have any good sideview standing pics of Merlin I wanna see this boy in detail!

As soon as I am computerized again I will post piccys of Merlin - side profile.

He is just such a different personality than the rest of the herd.  When it's feeding time, the other three sit and "assume the position" waiting for me to put down the bowls and release them.  Which I won't do until Merlin sits and stays.  Which only happens after he stands there for a full minute, staring at the salivating doxies as if to say, "You dolts!  What's she gonna do - NOT feed us?  You guys give her way too much power!"  Then finally he S-L-O-W-L-Y sits down, once he's made HIS point!

Hey Karen,
Which Mac laptop are you getting? Randy is ordering one in October when the new operating system comes out, so thought I would ask. Meghan is talking about getting one before grad school next year. It's on her list after she get's her car in Oct/ Nov. At least she knows she has to have wheels first!
