Brekke has been hospitalized since 8 pm...

last night, and we could sure use some rays. She was bleeding and I didn't know where it originated. I put her on my lap to drive downtown, and she bled all over my lap - got her in asap to emergency. Blood panels and x-rays - overnight stay with ivs - picked her up this morning and she is at her regular vet. They'll feed her in an hour and I can check back at 4. We sure could use some rays...

Well, I went to feed her at 5, and they said if she ate with no diarrhea, I could take her home. She REFUSED to eat more than a 1/16 of a teaspoon, and when I tried to get her to eat a bit more, she let loose a flood of blood,

so, I cleaned myself up, the tech cleaned the floor, and she stays overnight at least! :confused:

Oh, treat box 4C is ready to go, but I haven't made it to the post office for obvious reasons... and did I mention that Rick has been to the emergency room 3 of the last 6 days, and now Brekke?

Does the vet know what was causing the bloody stool? Was she still curious and alert when you saw her?

Sounds like hemhorragic gatroenteritis. The vet is probably the best place for her right now. It can be very nasty if left untreated. Max-angel suffered a bout of this when he was 5 1/2 years old. He became severely dehydrated. Luckily, I did take him to the emergency vet, where they put him on IV fluids. After that, he had to eat a prescription diet for a week IIRC. The good news is that he suffered no long term ill effects from it as he lived to the ripe old age of 17 years 7 months. I am sure Brekke will pull through just fine.

Hi, everyone! Yes, Delia - last night when I put her dish down, she didn't come over ... not typical dachsie-behavior at all. I bent down to pick her up and there was a small puddle of blood - maybe 1/4 teaspoon. That's when I checked her over, prodding and poking to see if there was a sting, a bite - whatever. Nothing showed up, and no bleeding anywhere. I brushed and combed out some tangles and checked her over again - still nothing. Then we got into the Vue and I slowly began to feel moist and warm where she was sitting on me. Then I would say it was probably 1/4 cup of blood and mucus...
