Hey everyone.  Hope you are all doing well.   My husband and I were looking through a couple local animal shelters and ads in the paper to find us a playmate for Porky.  Preferably, a rescued doxie.   During our search we came across many weird combinations of dogs.

We called one lady who advertised some doxies for free.   When I asked about them she said, well they aren't exatly purebred.   They are a Skipper Kee and Dachshund mix.   :thinik:   Wonder what you would call them, perhaps a  "skipshund??"  :dontknow:

Also we heard about some puppies from a guy my husband works with.  He had Basset, Beagle mix puppies.  So would those be "Bagles?" :2funny:

And one more, we found bulldog, shih tzu puppies.  That would make them "BullS**ts!!"   :2funny:

You will not believe this one.  Down the street is a Pit Bull b**** and her son--a Pitbull, YORKIE mix.  Yes, I sed Yorkshire Terrier.  You know, they weigh, mebbe three pounds.

That daddy Yorkie has some gumption!

(and stilts, apparently.)

I will say, they are both very nice dogs, too.

That's true Karen.  I agree I don't really like the name either.   That was what the guy on the phone called them.

Leslie,
Actually, I have heard of that before.   Doesn't surprise me a bit.  You never know the combos anymore. LOL

LOL I have seen those last two names on a joke email that was going around of a list of what two breeds crossed might be called.

So why did you call the bulldog/shih tzu guy, are you considering one fo those? I'll bet they are cute! I'd like to see what one would look like.

The person that was giving them away must not know some people are breeding on purpose to have two purebred dogs bred so they can sell them for big bucks a designer dogs. Heck would be cheaper to go to the Shelter they have allot of designer dogs there. Some people will get hooked into buying anything just because it has a high price Labordoodles are selling for big bucks so are the Pugles Pug & Beagle dogs????? very weird world now days.

Here's a suggestion for you. What about checking out Dachshund Rescue of North America. The website is www.drna.org ! That's where all 4 came from that's at my house and they all get along as if they've been raised together.I don't remember how old Porky is but at different times there's some young ones on there.
Here's another suggestion for you check out ones from Missouri look for buttercup64836@yahoo.com and Indiana look for drna@insightbb.com,and Illinois look for loisarmstrong@verizon.net ! I know all 3 of the ones I said to look at.

To answer your questions:
1. We called the guy about the bulldog/shihtzu's because he just said they were puppies in his ad.
2. We are checking the DRNA as well.
3.  And yes, Ruth, Yorkie/dachshunds are called Dorkies.  LOL :2funny:
4.  And, we don't really want a designer dog.  Just a regular every day dachshund.

My husband and i have decided to just wait until we meet the right dog or the dogapault sends one to us.   We were going crazy trying to find one that was near enough to our home and that had te right temperment.   I'm not entirely convinced that Porky would approve of sharing us anway.  We'll see.
