That's what we call "pouting".   Poor Hallie is NOT a happy camper.  It is funny because that is the first time I've actually heard your voice.

It's like "Beauty and The Beast" - she looks just like the dresser in the background!!! :2funny:

And. . .she's walking like a) a Tennessee Walker or b) a Lipizaner stallion!

The sad thing is, she normally LOVES getting dressed up! When I lay this coat on the floor she ran over and stood on top of it waiting to be adorned. But then things went downhill fast LOL.

I was on a quest to find something to cover up as much of Hallie's body as possible so we could enjoy our daily walks more in the winter when all it does is rain. I found this really cool rain coat that covers everything but the head, only it's made for long legged dogs. So I bought one and took Hallie to my neighbors who is a professional seamstress for a fitting. She was not able to make it work.

So then I bought another and sent it to Delia and Ron who I knew was the best bet to tailor it (Gretchie is about Hallie's size so was a perfect model). Even they couldn't make it work!

Stubborn lass that I am, I bought one more and thought I'd do the best I could and maybe some extra covering would be better than nothing. (wrong). I am NOT a sewer, the only thing I've ever sewn is horse and dog blankets that have rips in them. So the darn coat in the video is coat #3 and as you can see it pinched her elbows together tight so she couldn't achieve forward motion very reliably.

She is very patient with me on many levels LOL!

Hallie sez she does not like ambulating in an irratic fashion!  :idiot:

Well, I'm cracking up here!  That was adorable!  The pouty Hallie - who'd a thunk it?  DD - is it a coat or a little clown costume?  I love the color, btw.

Brekke here: Sheesh!  First Momma talks to Auntie Marcia on the phone, furever, and then she's snortin' at poor Hallie!  How's a girlie s'posed to get any 'tention around here, anyway?   Sigh!  I know just how Hallie feels!  I'm gonna go pout somewhere, too...

Haillie reminds me of the time my sister put the superman outfit on Amy. The face says it all, I love you ....but your pushing it. Mum.
Love the subtle colour, and no rain hat.
Rain is not a problem with our princess its a totally no go area, and as we are having the most rain in about 10 years she is having a problem. On Sunday we took them to their favourite week-end walk and it was really damp.. we had to draw straws as to who picked them up to put them back in the car.

Hysterical!   Dee-Dee have you tried http://www.dogedesigns.com/dachshund.htm?  I can't recommend them since I haven't purchased anything, but they have some neat things and I was considering the snowsuit for Frank.  I am hesitant after spending $20 on boots for Frank.  He would shake each foot, one at a time like he was playing the Carol of the Bells until they would fall off....it was really funny but not useful for going potty in the snow.
Thanks for making my day........
Dawn

PS they have sizes especially for dachshunds.....

Dee Dee and Hallie

Hallie thanks everyone for the commisery.

LOL Julia, it looks more like a clown suit doesn't it. I looked like a rain coat before I got done butchering it LOL!!! It's actually a bright red, the video makes it looks sort of maroony doesn't it. Hallie says to tell Brekke she will get together and pout with her anytimes she wants!

Tell Amy there is a rain hat too! Just wasn't put on yet. I am determined to figure out an outfit that is comfortable and a doxie won't even know it is raining out!! It's my mission...LOL.

AHH DAWN HAllie is getting a snow suit AND an ear snuggler! Actually I think I will write and ask if she would modify the snow suit a little...thanks for the link!

I'm have trouble too. The video comes up and runs, but I only see color blobs. Pretty blobs in the general shape of a dog, but not the video everyone else is seeing. I'm going to try it on Randy or Meghan's computer

Merion

I couldn't get it to work in firefox so I opened internet explorer pasted the url in and it worked fine there.

LOL Hallie says c'mon Porky, we thinks you could whip up a coat for yourself AND your momma!!!

Ha Gretchen caught on a little sooner then, I can just see her sitting there going, yeah Hallie's mom is pretty funny UNTIL it involves ME!

I finally remembered the name of this coat, here is the link. https://www.neopaws.com/catalog/rainbodysuit-p-1838.html?osCsid=bc79ea40d0e51f81f82d2dc13fb9b6c8 It looks like it works good on longer legged dogs!

This is probably a silly question but after you cut the way too long legs did you put it on inside out.  Then if you pin it to fit too the body and baste the lines where you pinned it it should fit.  Once you know it fits you can sew it for good.
I did this with a kind of wool jacket for Zack and it fits like a second skin.  He looks really dapper in his plaid coat. I will look for a picture and post it if I find one.

PattyInAK

Yep, she looks like a cute little clown!  And none too pleased!  The video was hilarious.

Dee Dee and Hallie

Oh good Barb you were able to see it.  :thumb: I can't imagine wanting to put any kind of coat on her right now, we are getting Texas weather! 100 today and hotter tomorrow!

Merion I didn't try that myself because I am clueless with sewing LOL. But the neighbor who tried to fix it is a professional seamstress and she couldn't do it and Ron and Delia have made her some coats that fit perfectly and couldn't, I think it would have been a lot easier to start from scratch rather than try to alter that particular coat. I hope to order one from the link Dawn gave and see how that fits since it was made for a doxie! I'm just waiting to hear back from them now.  :thumb: Did the coat you made have sleeves then, and you got it to fit??

LOL Patty she was so happy to be dressed up but then when she tried to walk her smile turned into a frown lol.

I think it sort of reminds me of what my Twinkie looked like when I tried to put booties on her.
That was before she played seal baby in her velcro fashioned fleece coat!   I had it so snug it was NOT possible for her to pull her front legs up into the coat. IT WAS JUST NOT POSSIBLE, there was NO room.  BUT she still did it.
We were in van, that the heater wasnt working on, she was between seats and I hear this thunk thunk thunk.   I glance back and there she is with OUT ANY front feet.  so she was trying to get up by me by pushing forward with her back feet!  Baby seal!!

I soon learned no matter how cold it GOT she would NOT wear a coat. Even though she did not like to ride in kennel in van she really loved to get into it and then play submarine under about 5 layers of fleece blankie!!

The only clothing she allowed was her scarf.  I used a 50's style cap made out of chunky yarn and make it shorter so it only fit around her heat about twice with really short ties!!  Actually she didnt fight most caps, bonnets, etc and she looked so cute in them. I also got her a Harley Davidson cap(sister's dogs got the jackets at the Foster and smith warehouse sale!!)

Merion

Yes it had sleeves That I really had to shorten  :2funny: .   I wonder why that was ?  :dontknow:
