GUESS WHO JUST STAGGERED HOME WITH 4 TIRED SORE PAWS?? MERLIN!!!

While I was downtown at the baseball game, Merlin and Beau managed to break out of the doggie yard, and since the gate to the people yard is always left unchained (by my tenants) (who are my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren - GRRRRRRR!!!), they just pushed their way out the gate and they've been gone anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. I've scoured the neighborhood with no luck. It's 1 in the morning and I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Please say a prayer and send rays for Merlin and Beau's safety and a quick return home. I've left the gates open hoping they will find their way home.

UPDATE!! BEAU IS HOME!!12:30 p.m.Thursday

No more than 30 SECONDS after I taped the first poster on a light pole when my cell phone rang and a man said, "Are you missing a dachshund?"

The rough and tough macho men of Mark's Auto Body in Baltimore, Maryland were clustered around a Chevy Bronco under which there laid a very tired, very hot wiener dog. When I pulled up in my electric wheelchair and called his name, he came waddling out, tail wagging between his legs, trying to give me DA L@@K! (Da noive!!)

Hugs and kisses and tears - I am so grateful to these guys who refused to take the $100 I offered (it's also on the poster). So I asked them if they liked Budweiser beer. One of them laughed and said, "You're ASKING if auto body guys like beer?" "No," I replied, "I ASSUMED you like beer. I was checking to see which BRAND you prefer." "Acutally, Bud light would do just fine!" he smiled.

So off I went, putting posters up along busy Reisterstown Road. Keep up the prayer chain for Merlin - let's hope he can pull off some real magic and get home in one piece!

HOME AT LAST!4:00 p.m.

All on his own! He's was walking like he had just crossed the Sahara, and he barely wagged his tail as he hung his head.

But he got a great big "GOOD BOY" for coming home!

And . . . it only cost, oh 20 years off MY life! NOW I can laugh!

OUT FOR THE COUNT! And Merlin passes out ON the reward posters - how appropriate!

Please Merlin and Dr. leaky- go home to your Mama- she has lots treats waiting for you!

I am going to say a prayer right now that they will find there way home! Do they have ID'S on them in case someone finds them? I know you have got to be going crazy right now not knowing where your babies are!! They will be home soon, i know it!

They'v got I.D. coming out of their ears! They're each wearing a microchip ID, a rabies tab, a name tag with both my home and cell phone numbers, and Baltimore City licenses.

I'm putting up posters with photos of them - thank goodness for Da L@@K photos!

I've called every agency, shelter, and humane society in the area, both city and county.

Still no word.

Sending rays and prayers for their safe return. Dachshunds are pretty good little navigators, so I'm sure once they get bored with whatever they are doing they'll head home on their own accord, and give that "what were you so worried about look?"

I imagine Merlin probably isn't too far afield from where you found Beau. I can't see them splitting up. Reisterstown Road is definitely not a place where I'd want my pupper running free. Sending rays for Merlin's safe return. How far was the auto body shop from your home?

You know, it's almost embarrassing that dachshunds are in the same category as bloodhounds! Poor Beau's fat feet are swollen and he is out cold.

I doubt he will be in the mood to help track Merlin, who I am sure he is blaming for this fiasco!

Hooray! Both are home! I guess Merlin didn't count on it being as hot as it was today. I figured he'd eventually make his way back once he had seen enough of northwest Baltimore.

We all feel as if all the doxies are OUR doxies, and we hurt, worry and rejoice along with you. Now I can rest easy, I've been so worried. This type of thing makes us ALL more careful. Very glad your boys made it home after this I think I would paddlock the gate or put up an extra gate so it will not happen again do not think you could stand for it to happen again. Know I would be just going out of my mind with worry if you are like me do not need more grey hair,our gate only opens from the inside.
Please give the boys extra belly rubs.
