Toby is having surgery on Friday

The hematoma in his ear is not healing as well as we had hoped.  He has had it drained four times and has been wearing the pressure bandage for several weeks.  Although it showed improvement initially, it continues to come back.  Our vet is concerned about the possibility of infection which could possibly be worse than the surgery.  They will open the ear flap, clean and cauterize the vein that continues to bleed and stich the ear back to the cartilege on both sides.    I don't know if he will be able to come home on Friday or will spend the night.  It depends on how he handles the anesthesia.  I am so worried about his lungs and heart but Dr. M. is going to do this with as little anesthesia as possible. 
So if there are some extra dachsie rays out there, Toby-Man could sure use them.  Poor little guy....he sure has been through enough.

I had hoped it would heal without surgery, but at least you know you have a vet that knows his history and will take all precautions with him. I'm sure they will do this surgery as quickly as they can so he isn't under very long at all. Looks like Toby-man is in for lots of hugs, belly rubs, and treats for next little while. I'm saying prayers and sending rays his way!
