We close on the 21st!  We're excited.  Chilie can't wait to explore her new backyard.  She's been with us to see it a couple of times, and each time she peed on the lawn (well, dirt....the sod isn't down yet).  So she's officially marked her territory!

Here's the house.  I took it from inside the car....that circle-looking thing over the street sign is a ding on our windshield.

Chilie's checking out the backyard.

How exciting. You will have so much fun and Chilie and Lara will both have fun outside this summer. We bought an older house many years ago, then decided to renovate it. It was truly The Money Pit in real life. Mainly a matter of nothing preventive being done for many years before hand and lots of hidden damage. Once we got everything finished, we enjoyed it for a year or so, but the expense was just too much. Since we had no choice but to put more into it than originally planned, our payments were much more than we had wanted them to be. We decided to sell it, sadly, and decide later what we wanted to do as for home ownership. We have leased a condo for 5 years, thinking that may be the route to take. I can do what I want in the yard, but not have to do everything, yet we have lots of space. Lately, though, I think we are once again thinking about a small house. This one will not be old, and not too big with a SMALL yard. Just enough for 2 puppers to play in. That way they can have a doggie door and someone isn't always having to go out with them and we can hopefully get away from the puppy pads.
Earlier this week, Randy started talking about building! All I can think of is the headache of remodeling and all the disagreements!!! We'll see!
I can't wait to see the finished product and the pics when you move in. What color is Lara's room going to be?

Teresa,

I didn't want to build for precisely the same reason...I didn't want to have to make all those decisions on everything!  But since this was a spec home, there weren't really that many choices, and that was fine by me!  The biggest disagreement DH and I had was on the chandelier in the dining room.  Luckily, we found one we both liked....at Meijer of all places!  We used to have a similar situation that you have now with your condo.  When we lived in Chicago, we rented a 3bdr home, and the landlord was my boss, so he let us do some remodeling to it that a normal landlord probably wouldn't allow.  And since we rented, we didn't have to worry about any of those homeowner things.  I still miss our place in Chicago!
