WOO HOO![/color]The dirt is ordered, the compost has been cookin', the design plans are finalized, soaker hoses are purchased, the plants are ordered (verified and ship date is May2) and I am about vibrating.  My bird/butterfly perrienial garden bed should be complete AND blooming by at least the end of the summer.  So kewl!  With all of the other projects on hold until we do hardscaping, shed painting, deck sealing and freaking fence repair,  I get a brand new, 60 square foot flower bed with all a hummingbird feeder and all my plant favorites :
Orange twist Siberian wallflower, white "Festiva Maxima" Peony, a Black Knight buddelia,  red phlox, Joe-Pye Weed, Raspberry colored Bee Balm, butterfly weed, blue siberian iris, ornamental oat grass, plus sea holly, lavender and Pekovski sage.  I might throw in a fennel if I can find the acid green kind that I like.  Hope it all fits or DH might have to make it bigger. (he is allowed to use the shovel under supervision!) Think the hummers and flutters will come????  Woo hoo!

Woohoo!  That is exciting!  You'll have to take and post pictures as soon as it's all finished.

We're getting ready to move into our new house soon, and DH and I have had plants on the brain lately.  This is our first house, so being able to garden and landscape is so exciting.  So I can definitely share your enthusiasm!

Cool!  I love planting flowers and even have a little plot for tomatoes and strawberries in my backyard.  It's so much fun to do, post pics when it gets done!

:headbang: Your Garden Plans ROCK!!!!!  I just love it!!!  Piccys please please please as you progress...remember...hummers have "scouts" that go out and scout out feeders.....check on the internet but I believe they come around end of April and early May to get the good food spots....my mom feeds hummingbirds every year....each year she has more and more hummers (last year there were so many they were "dive bombing" and almost running into each other in the air...it was amazing!!)  She puts out two feeders, one on each side of her patio.  Your garden sounds like it will be so much fun.....congratulations!

Ya know, I just read this today and made up a batch of food.  I hear they are in Tennessee now, so I will put the food out tommorrow. (It's cooling in the fridge overnight.)

This is a cool hummingbird site. The part of it that I'm linking to is a hummingbird migration map. As you can see, they are everywhere now! It only shows the northward migration, but it is fun to start checking each year at the beginning of March and see where the hummers are. A great page to bookmark.
