Dee Dee and Hallie

Poor Hallie. Two days ago I had to go to the hospital with a ruptured cyst (worst pain I have ever had by far...and my first hospital stay I feel old!). I waited 13 hours at home hoping the pain would go away (duh) and by the time I decided it wasn't going to, it was 3 am, I was drenched in sweat, shaking all over, my hands were numb and the pain was out of this world. As I was preparing to drive myself to the ER I had to set Hallie up, I always put an X Pen across the sofa so she won't have an opportunity to jump on the couch while I'm away (she would never do this when I'm home but I think she would if I were gone, as she would be looking out other windows for me). Then I had to fix her breakfast and leave it in the fridge knowing I'd have to have someone come and feed her. At that point I was sure I wasn't going to make it out alive LOL it was the hardest thing in the world to leave her home and go.

Many tests and hours later (can I just say that pain meds ROCK) it was determined to be a ruptured ovarian cyst. The neat thing is the ER doc on duty is a friend of mine, I do bird paintings for his wife and have many times gone to that ER when he was on duty to drop the painting off for him to take home to his wife. So he took really good care of things for me. They wanted me to stay overnight again last night and have more tests this morning but when I told them there were only 2 options, I could drive the 1 mile home and spend the night with my dog and drive back in the morning for tests, or my dog could come to the hospital and spend the night in the bed with me. Suddenly they were all for letting me go home LOL. Just got back from the doc all is well, nothing scary in there and I feel GREAT again albeit exhausted.

Anyway poor Hallie, my aunt did come feed her and let her out for me but while I was in such pain and trying to fix the house up for her, she was beside herself not knowing what to do to help me. She kept going to her toy pile and bringing me different "babies", she'd squeek one in front of me, then she looked like "well that didn't work. How about THIS one" and she'd go get me another. Now today she has a new behavior, everytime I stop moving, she finds part of me to sit on. If I"m standing, she will turn around and sit on my feet. If I'm sitting or laying down she will crawl on top of me and not budge. She's never done this before, (she sits on my lap a lot but this is different). It's like she is pinning me down so I can't go anywhere. That broke my heart more than anything. Writing this I'm thinking of poor Sophie worrying about her brother Stormy...

That has been my worst fear to be somewhere like the hospital where I couldn't just get up and walk out to get my dog. I am lucky to have good friends who came to bat for me and my aunt and uncle , Hallie was covered well but I hope I never go through something like that again!

Oh DeeDee that is so scary!  I am REALLY glad to hear that your going to be okay but geez....I can't believe you waited that long girl!
I think that your right about Hallie's behavior.  Buelah does the same thing to me when I have to go away overnight on business...fortunately, not that often.  Keith said that she will lay by the bedroom door and not move.  She eats very little and when I return she does the "pin me down" thing.  It usually goes on for a day or two and then she gets back to her normal self.  It breaks my heart every single time.
Please take it easy and let Hallie entertain and care for you....just as you did for her when she was healing. Hugs and Rays coming your way from Buelah, Oscy, Toby-Man and Beatrice.  Same from me!

Glad all went well, including today's Dr visit. That was quite a scare! Let's not do that again, huh? Poor little Hallie. She must have been beside herself, not understanding what was going on. It sounds like she's making sure you don't try anything like that again! Of course, since you have total control over that situation, I'm sure you'll comply with her demands.  Again, I'm glad it all turned out to be what it was and is now over.

Wow, what a scare, hope you get better soon!  Sounds like Hallie missed you and doesn't want you leaving again.
Whenever I have had to go out of town, Cookie clings to me and won't let me out of her sight for a couple of days. (even though she was home with her Daddy the whole time  )

Oh, my stars, DD!  I am glad you are back home and you have such a qualified nurse.  Makes me think of that joke:
Why do dachshunds make the best nurses?   Because they can stand the l-o-n-g hours!
That is so sweet that Hallie is bringing you her favored toys!  I am glad you have family/people to look in on her in case of something like this.

We sure hope you're feeling better - I've had a couple of late night scares that landed me in the hospital over the last 2 years and I'm always telling Deb to go home and take care of the dogs.  They do know when something is wrong, and they do try their best to help. They are precious little souls indeed.  Give Hallie a hug for us and Stormy and Sophie say for Hallie to give aunt DeeDee a lick for them.

Poor Hallie knew something was wrong with her Momma she was trying her best to make you feel better they are so quick to pick up on anything and want to take care of us like we take care of them. I do hope you are feeling better soon DD my daughter-in -law Samantha went though that recently.Doxie's nurses are the best around allot better than the ones with two feet personally I think they should have let Hallie come to the hospital and be with you she could cheer up all the patients.Hospitals just do not understand the healing power of a dog they sure are missing out on something great.

It has surprised me to find out how many people have gone through this. They say you forget the pain of childbirth and I don't know if it's anything like this was but boy howdy I won't be forgetting this anytime soon. I was so thankful to get the doc I did and everyone was very nice there. I went back and got the last of my tests done like I promised them and everything looks great. Hallie has relaxed a little too she's in my arms here now as usual, snoozing. I got through my first major thing since losing my family (the few left don't really care that much) it was a good feeling to have so many friends here jump to help when I needed it. :)

I got kinda used to laying around in bed all day and getting waited on though. LOL.
