Bratpak and Lauri

Four days before Christmas I was driving home and close-by my house in a double main road, I saw a small red dachie chasing with the speed of light down the busy road.  My heart literally sank.  I also saw a car driving slowly next to the dachie and I thought at first maybe they're his people.  So I drove down to the robot.  I looked back in my mirror and saw a red bundle of ears coming flapping towards me.  I turned back at the robot and stopped on die side walk waiting for him.  He was like a lightning bolt, petrified and totally out of control.

By now we were 4 cars with people on a rescue mission.  Two cars stopped but they eventually gave up.  I started to pray for God to help me and the next moment I saw the red boy on the other side of the road.  Now he was running right into the oncomming traffic.  I yelled when I saw him lost his balance (of exhaustion) and he rolled about 2 or 3 times right in front of an oncoming car, before regaining his balance and started speeding again.  Cars were breaking like mad!!  By now I was in my car again, praying feverishly, racing with hazzards after the little soul.  I will not give up on this little one and I prayed like mad for God to help me find him! I saw him dissapearing around a corner to a petrol station.  I had to wait for the traffic before crossing and I drown slowly around the filling station, seeing nothing but when I came around the corner on the other side I saw a man and his daughter trying to catch him.  He fled underneeth a truck that was parked close-by.  I stopped and the man said we'll have to get someone to catch him - he wants to bite.  I said NO wait, and asked him to go buy a piece of fried sausage at a close-by butchery.

I fotgot to say, it was raining also!!!!! Fritzie, as I named him, was sitting under the truck, drenched, shivvering, petrified and very, very scared. Luckily it was a silent cul-de-sac with apartments, so hardly any traffic.  I went and sit next to the truck in the street and start talking to him.  The man came back with the sausage and gave it to me.  He was still convinved that we should call someone and I said NO, leave him, he'll be fine.  By now I was also drenched, but Fritzie stayed under the truck where he felt safe.  I broke of pieces of sausage and threw it under the truck, but he did'nt even SMELL it.   After maybe 45 minutes, it stopped drizzling and things changed when a KITTY smelled the sausage and stopped by   Typical daachie, the kitty triggerd Fritzie's interest and he slowly moved out from under the truck - sticking only his head out.  Kitty was cheweing away on some juicy sausage.  I gently touched his neck and he retrieved.  Some minutes later the same - he got out a little further and I scratched his belly.  He retrieved and started eating his sasuage.  The third time he got out far enough and he let me pick him up.  His little body was soaked and ice cold. I always carry some old towels im my car  and now I know why.  He setteled down in my arms and stopped shivvering.  I called Pam (the rescue lady) and she came to fetch him (she decided to keep him)  Yikes - wonderful home!  I was actually disgusted with his people - no collar and roaming the streets so we decided to NOT let the SPCA know and keep him with her.

On Monday Pam called me.  It's a long story but she overheard someone at the vet's office talkes about these devestated  couple who's dachie got lost - apparently some juvenile brat kid had opened up their gate and let him out on purpose and so he got lost.  Pam called the people and after a long conversation, Fritzie was reunited with his people.  Pam said when the man and woman saw Fritzie they both just sobbed, and sobbed and sobbed and Fritzie went ballistic and his tail wagged at 1000 miles per hour.  His real name is Snoopy.

God is good!

What a great, uplifting story for a Friday afternoon. You were such a godsend to Snoopy and to his parents. No wonder he was frightened. He probably had never been in such a situation before. It's so interesting how God works sometimes. First, you, a doxie lover, saw Snoopy in the first place and wouldn't give up on him, and then Pam happened to hear about the couple missing their dachsie and being so devastated. I'm sure they will be finding a way to make sure Snoopy never has a chance to be let out by anyone but themselves from now on. Thank you for taking care of him.
