Just curious, when Cookie's fur grows back, are we going to see that long back scar, or will the fur grow over it?  I know its not the most important back surgery question i could ask, but I am curious.

Also, Cookie is so funny right now when she tries to raise her fur to bark and growl, only 1 little patch near her butt, and the fur on her neck stands up.  I don't think she knows that standing her fur up is pointless right now.   :2funny:

To be honest I actually was wondering the same thing...  :dontknow: How is Cookie doing? How is her walking?

When my Hannah had her back surgery, most of the hair grew back very quickly. But, two years later, she has only a very thin strip of hair right along he spine. So, you can see a line down her back. That's as good as it's going to get for her, but at least she's walking.

She's not walking yet.  Wednesday night will be one week, so its still early.  Although she is become a master scooter and we can't let her out of our sight for more than 30 seconds.  We did buy a playpen from babys r us to contain her and that helps immensly.

With my Zoe, she is a red smooth dachsie and her surgery was last summer.  I can not see her scar now    :apls:  So sorry to hear that Cookie had to have surgery.  Keep her confined for 6 to 8 weeks (the playpen is a great idea).  Don't get discouraged, it is early yet.

Cajsa had surgery this past Easter and we can still see her scar.  She also knocked part of the scab off while getting out of her crate to remove the stiches so that might have something to do with it too.  The hair down her back doesn't stand up anymore along the length where her scar is although it sure does at her neck/shoulders and hindquarters!  She doesn't seem to notice and it's enough to make Gretchen back off so it works for her.  She is walking and back to around 95-98% and is happy and playful.  That's more than I could've asked for so I"M not going to sweat a bare spot on her back!

Penny's back incision is healing well...but I am guessing that she will probably have a "battle" scar
