Everything checked out fine with Chilie.  The vet thinks that the lesion was just a sebaceous cyst.  It was a raised mole-type thing, and he was able to pick it off.  It bled a lot, and he said that the bump was probably just dried blood from the cyst, and to rub Neosporin on the open wound and keep an eye on it. :bandaid:  I am so glad that it isn't serious, though I will keep a close eye on it.  Poor little Chilie....the vet had to roll her over on her back, which she detested, so I did my best to hold her head still and look into her eyes and talk reassuringly to her.  It seemed to help, but she did her darndest to kick and squirm!  She got lots of lovin' and treats when we got home!  We're going out to buy a new collar tomorrow.  I don't want her regular harness to rub against it and irritate it.  Now that I think of it, could that be what caused the cyst in the first place?

Glad it was nothing serious.  Might be worth a call back to the vet to see if he thinks friction from a harness could have caused it.  Can't hurt to ask.

That is great news and I'm sure a big relief to you too.  :hello2: Do you use a hug a dox harness? If not I wonder if that might be gentler on her rub spot? It must have been on the upper half of her tummy then?

I'm happy to hear the news I was thinking of her today and came in to check on her as soon as I got home. :)

So glad to hear that Chilie is okay.... :apls: hummm....thinking about the harness making that bump....I guess that could be a possibility.  I have never had a problem with Zoey's rubbing her ..... she has the hug a dox....

Glad Chilie is OK. Gretchen used to wear a Lupine harness until I noticed she had a big bald spot on her chest (she's a longhair) and figured it was the harness. She now has a hug-a-dox and the hair never grew completely back, but the spot filled in. I guess if a harness could make a bald spot, it could make a mole-type thing.

Glad to hear everything checked out ok with Chilie.  Cysts are not that unusual.   Sometimes it can be something as simple as an ingrown hair that gets infected, creating pus, which hardens and then that gives you the "bump".   Draining them isn't that big of a deal...it's not unlike popping a zit.

The other bumps that are not unusual are the lipomas or fatty tumors.   Max had a bunch of them, some of them had been with him so long that they were very large, but all were thankfully harmless.
