Both of the Zs have really settled in and their personalities are really starting to show.   Zeke has found his observation position on the arm of the couch where he can look out the window, survey the neighborhood and bark very aggressively at anything that he feels is a threat to "his" territory.

Zora has shed her "doggie depression" and is becoming quite the diva.  She has to be the center of attention.  If I am petting or giving attention to Zeke, Zora will come over and squeeze herself between Zeke and I.   If I continue to ignore her and pet Zeke, Zora will very gently mouth my hand and try to move it over to her.   If I still continue to ignore her, she chomps on Zeke, which usually starts a weiner wrestling match and I can no longer pet Zeke anyway.

Both sets of our parents have now visited us.   Margie's parents think the Zs are very nice dogs.  My folks thought that Zeke bore a resemblance to my grandfather (!!!).   However, they were concerned because Zeke got very defensive/aggressive to my mother when she went into the kitchen to talk to Margie.   Unfortunately, I was not there to catch him, but Zeke is fairly easy to train, so breaking him of this behavior will not be difficult.  All of our parents are in agreement that Zora is a beautiful little pupper with a very sweet disposition.

I have taken some pics, so they will be posted soon!

My Manny does the same thing if he wants to be petted. He'll take your hand and let you know he wants attention. He'll also nudge your hand with his nose.
We also have a new resident Dachshund in our family named Fritz.Even though he's been here a month the 16 he's still a little nervous but happy

I am really glad things continue to go well for you and the Z's!  Its great that they have settled in nicely.  That sure is funny that they said Zeke rezembles your grandfather.  :2funny:

David not that you want it, but at least zeke has decided Margie is part of his pack to defend.

We are so happy that the Zs are feeling more at home, and have claimed you and margie as their own.  Once they begin acting like they own you, you know they are part of the family!

They have integrated into your family really fast!! That is wonderful. LOL my Dad's Jody was the same way, she would shove Jessie right off to the side in order to steal the attention.

I've been gone from here for a while and missed something?  When did Zeke and Zora come to live with you David?  What happened?  It sounds like they are setttling in nicely though so I hope things continue on a smooth path.  Dogs are good for kids to be around as well as adults!  We need them as much as they need us!

Hi April, the story is that after Max died, Yamisi contacted us just to express her condolences.  I asked her what was up with the Zs.  She told me that her 11 month old son was very allergic to them, so they had been boarded at a Dog Spa for the last six weeks while she tried to find a good home and not have to split them up.  Margie and I didn't expect to become dog owners again so soon, and certainly Yamisi did not expect us to come forward.  However, we knew the Zs and knew that we just couldn't let them go to any home.  So, we opened up our home and are hearts and the Zs came to live with us on October 15th, barely two weeks after Max's passing.

While the time frame between Max's passing and the Zs arriving was extremely short, it's really been a blessing for us to have two vivacious puppers in the house again.
