. :verdict:  Just curious to know -- Beemer and Mercedes are not registered but very obviously purebred doxies.  The parents are not registered -- the sire was given to the owner and then he bred his daughter from a previous litter.  Both parents, again, are very obviously purebred.  I guess my question is:  Is there a chance of getting the puppies registered, like in horses, by looks?  Bev

enter them in AKC competitions (except confirmation - show ring)  it is possible to get an ILP.

There is no reason to get this if you are not going to enter competitions though.  You still can't call them AKC registered or anything, nor can you breed them and get the puppies papered.

While I have the AKC papers on my boys, I never registered them.  I had no need for their papers since they are neutered and I don't intend to enter any competitions with them.

I never could figure out why anybody needed AKC papers when  they had no intentions of ever  showing or breeding their dog.
I was given the papers when I got eLlIe but I never did send them into AKC

If you want to do field trails with your puppers, like Delia's Ilsa and Gretchen, you do need papers.  You can take a picture of your doxie and send it to the AKC and get the ILP.  You can enter Earth Dog compititions with ILP, but not field trails.  Or at least that is what I have been told.   :dontknow:
