Today was the day that we brought Zora and Zeke into our house.   It's been a long time since we had two very active dachshunds in the house.   Both were quite excited about the "new" digs and it took them a few hours before they finally settled down.

Jessica was quite excited about the development and squealed excitedly about these two new pets scurrying about the house at top speed.   It took very little time for Zeke to latch onto Jessica and before long, the two of them were sitting together watching one of her videos.  Zora was the first to figure out the "Altar of Food" though.   Both are quite adept at "diaper detector" duty, too!

Our hearts do ache for Yamisi.  You can tell how well these two doggers were taken care of and how much she did care for them.   We were blown away by how much "stuff" came along with the two of them.

We did find one more connection between this pair and Rudy & Max.   Rudy and Zora share the same barkday -- August 21 (although 9 years apart).  Moreover, seeing this pair made me realize that when I lost Rudy 16 months ago, part of me died with him, too.   With Zeke and Zora, that part is coming back to life and that void is being filled.  Stay tuned for pictures and more stories as we embark on a new journey with our new friends.

Congratulations, but like you I feel for Yasimi. I wondered when the whirlwind effect would come into play. We only got one OLiver  when Emma  and Angus were over 10 and that was a BIG eyeopenner, but lots of fun.

That's wonderful that Zeke and Zora have settled into your home so nicely.  It must have been very hard for Yamisi, but she must be very comforted knowing that Zeke and Zora are in a wonderful and loving home.  Can't wait to see some pictures! :apls:

Wow - how exciting !!! Sounds like they are settling in just fine.   Are they going to be sleeping in the big bed?   My heart hurts for Yamisi - but in time, I know she will find great comfort knowing that her babies are with such a loving family.  Congrats and HURRY UP WITH THE PICTURES !!!!

I was wondering what Jessica would think about having ACTIVE dogs in the house since Rudy and Max were quite settled by the time she came along. I'm sure she is having a blast and will enjoy helping them burn off some extra energy. I know you will have the camera out a lot with these two. My heart aches for Yamisi, but I, too, know she must be comforted to know they are in a wonderful home. It's also great that she can still visit them! Can't wait to hear about the nighttime routine around the house now!

Oh My!  Those are very lucky puppers to have been loved so much by Yamisi and family and now to be loved by the C. family.  I cannot wait to see pictures of the doglets with Jessica!

It's been a fun couple of days around here.  The Zs are just magnificent little animals with lots of joy and love in both of their hearts...no doubt because of the way Yamisi raised them.

I put them through their first "tortures":  teeth and ears, which they passed with flying colors.   I then attempted to dremel their nails.   That didn't work at all.  Both were utterly terrified of the dremel and as soon as it made contact they jerked their entire bodies away.   I guess we have to go with plan B...either the standard toe chopping or letting the vet do the chopping.   I may go ahead and let the vet do it, since I've never chopped toes before.
